Pinky Beecroft Announces 2026 Australian Tour, Details Album

Pinky Beecroft – beloved Australian musician, singer, stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and former frontman of Machine Gun Fellatio – is going solo.

Yep, next month, Beecroft is unveiling his first full-length album in 17 years. Lonesome Wolf drops on Friday, 14 August. Co-produced with Damian Cafarella (The Pleasures), Beecroft and Cafarella play all the instruments on the record.

The singles Band of Gold, I’ll Be Alright, and Beecroft’s take on My Heart is in the Wrong Place are out now, while the album is set to include a new version of Machine Gun Fellatio’s Unsent Letter. You can check out the singles here.

Along with the album release, Beecroft and his band are hitting the road. The tour begins at Brisbane’s Crowbar on Friday, 7 August.

It continues at Sydney’s Factory Theatre on Friday, 21 August, Canberra’s Smith’s Alternative on Saturday, 22 August, Adelaide’s The Jade on Thursday, 3 September, Fremantle’s Mojo’s Bar on Saturday, 5 September, and concludes at Melbourne’s Memo Music Hall on Friday, 11 September.

During their brief yet explosive lifespan, Machine Gun Fellatio dominated the airwaves, scored multiple songs on triple j’s Hottest 100, and performed at Big Day Out. The band amassed a cult following, but at the height of fame, Beecroft ditched the music game and disappeared.

However, upon his return to the entertainment world, fans saw Beecroft on The Glasshouse and The World 9-Ball Championship, performing sold-out shows as a comedian. Plus, he won an ARIA Award for Song of the Year and co-wrote the #1 song on the Hottest 100, The Whitlams’ No Aphrodisiac.

After recording some solo albums and playing with The White Russians, Beecroft went on to share the stage with Elvis Costello and produced television series. Now, he’s returned with new material, new shows, and a live band.

“The obvious question is.... why? That’s the question I ask myself, a lot,” Beecroft explained. “And why now? Well, because I just made a record that I love. It doesn’t happen very often to me - that things work out exactly the way I want, that the feel is right, the songs sound the way I imagined. This one feels very different – it’s the record I’ve wanted to make, for a long time.”
