"There's no better sing-along than Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again by The Angels," the PM said.

We’re just one day out from polling day for this year’s federal election, and today, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has shown some sass.
Appearing on Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren show this morning, Albo cheekily implied that he’d be dedicating a particular Australian classic to Opposition Leader, Peter Dutton.
The song? Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again by The Angels. We have to ask: the album version or the live rendition with, y’know, that iconic chant?
Jase kickstarted the conversation by stating that every Friday, the team at Nova likes to play an old-school banger after 8 am – “a song that brings this city vibe to a high for the weekend” – that Jase and Lauren call their “lights on, sing-along” track. Today, they gave Albo the distinct honour of choosing the banger.
Albo responded, “And it’s a sing along? There’s no better sing-along than Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again by The Angels.”

After Jase and Lauren said they didn’t see that song choice coming, Albo cheekily answered, “And almost every one of your listeners just got the joke.”
The Prime Minister was then asked if he’d like to dedicate Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again to anyone. Not naming names, Albo quipped, “You know, it’s obvious who it’s dedicated to.”

Initially recorded as a ballad, The Angels reworked Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again into a rock song and released it in 1976. After debuting at #58 on the Australian charts, it stayed on the chart for 19 weeks.
In 1998, The Angels released a live version of the song as the lead single from Live Line. The live version contains the infamous, expletive-laden audience response: “No way, get fucked, fuck off,” which The Guardian’s Darryl Mason has described as “one of the most famous in Australian rock history.” Unfortunately, the exact origins of the legendary call-and-response have been lost to time.
Following its release, the live version of Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again peaked at #11 on the Kent Music Report. A bassoon-laden version featured in the season one episode of Upper Middle Bogan, No Angel.
