Singer Chrissy Costanza, guitarist Dan Gow and drummer Will Ferri formed Against The Current in 2011, when they were teens. Taking the project from a teenage project to a full-blown global phenomenon, the band have released two albums – 2016’s In Our Bones and 2018’s Past Lives – plus six EPs, and continuously release impressive singles.
This year, Against The Current have offered sneak peeks into their forthcoming, highly anticipated third album with the explosive new songs, Heavenly and Dead Man Walking.
In addition to new music and touring, 2026 marks the band’s 15th anniversary. They’ve shared the stage with Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, All Time Low, and more, engaging fans on headline tours and festival stages.
Away from music, they’ve made a lasting impact on the gaming world, having collaborated with Riot Games for the track, Legends Never Die.

In a 2023 interview with The Music, Costanza discussed the “empowering” decision to make and release music and tour as an independent band. “It’s very empowering. It allows a lot of… not just creative control; I mean, obviously, that’s the sexier part of it, right?
“We make all the creative decisions, and a label can’t be like, ‘This isn’t the right song, etc.’ But there are little things to it, which is much less fun to hear or talk about but really important to an artist’s livelihood, things like deciding how [your] budget gets allocated. When you’re on a label, there is a way to spend the money, right – however they see fit – and then you’re expected to recoup it.”
She added, “Just having that autonomy again, knowing that we’re in control and we get to say what goes where and what we spend money on and what we don’t, seems like it should be so fundamental and not something that you appreciate so much because it should just be guaranteed, but because we didn’t have it for so long, it’s been so wonderful to have.”
