The battle of carpooling is on.

Late night talk show host James Corden's 'Carpool Karaoke', where he basically drives around with musical guests singing their songs, has become a hit both on The Late Late Show and online and it looks like TV execs have picked up on this because a similar show is currently in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Caraoke Showdown is being developed as a game show and described as Cash Cab (you may remember Channel [V]'s version which ran from 2007-2014) meets karaoke.

US comedian and actor Craig Robinson (The Office, This Is The End) will serve as host for the show, where he will pick up unsuspecting contestants who quickly find out they're competing in a karaoke competition, complete with various rounds and cash prizes.

The ten-episode series will film in LA and New York over the coming months and is expected to premiere on Spike TV in 2017.

The news comes just days after it was reported that Apple Music purchased the rights to Corden's segment and are gearing up to release an episode per week exclusively to subscribers.

A release date is yet to be announced.

Despite the heavy competition, the hugely-popular segment will continue to run on The Late Late Show which is no surprise, given that the videos have garnered over 800 million views on YouTube.

Get ready, people — the battle of carpooling is on.
