'70s Pop Star David Cassidy Confirmed Dead

'70s pop star David Cassidy is confirmed to have passed away today at the age of 67. 

According to People, The Partridge Family star died from organ failure just days after he was hospitalised.

Cassidy's family have since issued a statement on his passing.

"On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy," the statement reads.

"David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long.

"Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years."

The singer revealed in an interview earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with dementia and planned to retire from touring in 2017.

In his music career, Cassidy has released a number of works, including 12 studio albums and three live albums.

Throughout his career, Cassidy released a number of hit songs both solo and with The Partridge Family, including I Think I Love You, Cherish, How Can I Be Sure, Summer Days and I Am A Clown.
