Dimmu Borgir bassist leaves band after only a day
It looked as though Norwegian symphonic black metallers Dimmu Borgir had snapped up a mighty fine bassist to join the band in the form of Swedish multi-instrumentalist Snowy Shaw- that is until he left the band only 24 hours later. On Tuesday August 24, Dimmu Borgir confirmed that they had recruited Shaw to replace bassist/clean vocalist ICS Vortex on the band's upcoming album, "Abrahadabra", and world tour. The new-lineup seemed to be going off without a hitch with Shaw telling Blabbermouth.net, “Yeehaw! I'm so happy and proud to be in the coolest band on the planet (since KISS [circa] 1976)". However, only a day later and Shaw appears to have had a change of heart and has left Dimmu Borgir to return to Swedish progressive/experimental metallers Therion. Nikko announce east coast tour
"A Tour For Thee, Old Cause" is a follow-up to Nikko's east coast tour last June, which was in support of the release of their debut album 'The Warm Side' (Tenzenmen/FUSE). 'The Warm Side' has since received much critical acclaim, with Sputnikmusic declaring it as "...one of the best Australian albums of the year so far" and Brisbane's RAVE Magazine giving the album 4 and 1/2 stars, saying that "For a debut album, it is pretty much as close to perfect as you can get." 'The Warm Side' also received highly favorable reviews in Scene, TimeOff, Mess+Noise and The Canberra Times. Single 'Wedding Song' was also named RAVE Magazine's Single of the Week. Behemoth frontman diagnosed with leukaemia
Things have gone from bad to worse for Behemoth frontman and lead guitarist Nergal who has reportedly been diagnosed with leukaemia. After cancelling all of their upcoming shows and having been rushed to hospital for treatment, Metal Underground is reporting that Polish news site TVP has revealed that Nergal, whose real name is Adam Darksi, has leukaemia. According to the Polish news site TVP, the disease has advanced to the point where chemotherapy can no longer be an effective treatment and can only be cured through a bone marrow transplant. However, support appears to be on the way with Darksi’s fiancé, Polish singer Doda, having already donated her bone marrow- though it’s uncertain whether it will provide a DNA match- and other Polish artists pledging to support the frontman by organising concerts to help raise awareness of his condition. Nergal is currently undergoing a multi-stage, months-long treatment at Gdansk Medical University Hospital.
