Casey Lee, the guitarist of Florida punkers Fake Problems has released a solo EP which is available for free download. The release is entitled "Comroms", and can be downloaded from Lee's personal Tumblr page.

Equal Vision Records have made a summer sampler available for streaming online. It includes tracks by Pennsylvania metalcore act Texas In July, California pop punkers This Time Next Year, and Texan indie rock outfit Eisley.

According to the Brisbane Times, a Sunshine Coast man was beaten to death by his flatmate after a drunken dispute about music selection. A court has heard that Emmanuel McPherson, 48, objected when his flatmate, James Albert Madden played a Limp Bizkit album on McPherson's stereo.

Metal giants Trivium have posted some backstage footage from the Australia/New Zealand tour the band is currently completing with Disturbed and As I Lay Dying. The band is set to release the follow-up to 2008's "Shogun" this year via Roadrunner Records.

Punk rock legends Descendents have issued a statement after a controversial performance in London, in which frontman Milo Aukerman's voice died and the band was forced to continue playing without his vocals. According to the band's website:

Minneapolis metalcore outfit Disembodied have announced that they will disband for good after one final show in their hometown in July. According to the band, "It's ending on a good note. Nothing bad to report. It's just run it's course ... It's been an amazing journey and we feel very lucky to have been able to do this again".

Hardcore upstarts Xerxes have signed to the ever-expanding No Sleep Records roster. In a blog post, No Sleep described the band as follows: "Xerxes took shape in early 2009 in Louisville, KY. What was once may soon again be the hub of some of the most ferocious and original music coming out of the country’s punk and hardcore underbelly.""Xerxes’ sound channels the energy and passion of mid-90’s originators You and I and Saetia, while adding the more upbeat and brutal thrash mentality of contemporaries such as Trash Talk and Ampere, making for a sound that runs the gamut of blast-beat aggression and emotional rumination."Xerxes recently released a split with Midnight Souls via Mayfly Records which can be streamed here. The group will record their debut full-length at the "Funeral Home" in Louisville with Kevin Ratterman (Coliseum, My Morning Jacket) at the helm. The record is expected for release in the American winter.
