Victorian musicians, music venues, and festivals are set to receive a $3 million funding boost, courtesy of the state government.
Part of the funding includes the 10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund, which will go towards 136 venues across the state, including Howler in Brunswick, Castlemaine’s The Bridge Hotel, and the Wesley Anne in Northcote, to name a few. The complete list of recipients is available to view here.
Meanwhile, the following venues have received $5,000 to support ten gigs:

On behalf of the Victorian government, Music Victoria is also supporting music festivals across the state with the Live Music Festivals Fund.

Up to eleven events will be supported with grants of up to $50,000 to help host new or existing festivals. Events that have been successful in receiving funding include Queenscliff Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Castlemaine’s Town Folk Festival, and Riverboats Music Festival. Lastly, Music Works will provide grants of over $940,000 to support the careers of emerging and established artists, enabling them to create new music, tour, and expand their audiences.
Among the 81 recipients are musician and disability advocate Eliza Hull, Adrian Eagle, BIRDZ, Bumpy, Liz Stringer, Merpire, Ninajirachi, Wild Gloriosa, and a list of recipients in the “uncovering talent” category.

Music Victoria also notes the artists who will have the opportunity to develop their careers through Multicultural Arts Victoria’s NEWPRINT program, which has been designed to support artists, producers, and other creatives from culturally and linguistically diverse communities in finding their place in the arts.
