Sweat It Out Publishing returns with its annual songwriting camp this year, and for the first time, it’s heading to Melbourne/Naarm.
Taking place from Tuesday, 5 May, to Thursday, 7 May, in seven studios across the city, the independent Australian dance music record label is spotlighting its original format, which brings 30+ artists, producers, and songwriters together for three days of collaboration and unleashing of creative output.
This year’s program will find Sweat It Out supported by audio engineering company Focusrite, international distributors Xelon, Joyluck Studio, and Central Station Publishing. The long-term goal? Contributing to artists’ growth in a safe, creative space.
Curated by the label’s Head of Publishing A&R and multi-Platinum artist, KLP (Kristy Lee Peters), the songwriting camp opens the door for making connections, partnerships, and, of course, new music.
In addition to offering studio sessions, this year’s camp will feature a free-to-the-public artist panel on Wednesday, 6 May.
The event will feature MC Kailyn Crabbe (of triple j’s Mix Up) on a panel alongside Matt Handley (Yolanda Be Cool, Sweat It Out Music A&R), Rromarin - Claire Rayner (Central Station Records Publishing) and Eshan Gelsi (Focusrite).

Together, the panellists will showcase their expertise by delving into songwriting, creative exchanges, and navigating the music industry amid an increasingly competitive dance scene, offering a unique opportunity for a direct line into the industry.

Recognised for its reputation of hosting in-demand, uplifting writing camp initiatives, Sweat It Out continues its legacy with this year’s iteration, continuing to boost Australian dance talent to grand new heights.
The inaugural Melbourne event follows previous successful editions, such as the Spotify EQUAL Writers Camp in Sydney and the Amsterdam Writing Camp, held at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), both of which took place last year.
The Spotify EQUAL Writers Camp starred Anna Lunoe, Willo, Mincy, In2stellar, KSMBA, Mell Hall, Tiff Cornish, Owl Eyes, Graace, Thandi Phoenix and more, so with that calibre of artists called on previously, this year’s event is also set to be huge.
