This afternoon (12 November), triple j revealed this year’s J Awards winners and continuing an impressive streak, Sydney EDM star Ninajirachi has taken home two of the prizes.
For this year’s awards, 26 local artists received nominations for their contributions to the Australian music scene across five categories on the triple j, Double J, Unearthed, and rage networks.
Representing hip-hop were nominees such as Baker Boy and ONEFOUR, while Thornhill and SPEED represented the heavy scene. Ninajirachi represented electronic music, and indie rock artists such as Spacey Jane, The Rions, and Folk Bitch Trio all received nominations.
The winners were announced today during triple j’s Drive with Abby & Tyrone and at the J Awards ceremony at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club.
From Unearthed High to this year’s Australian Music Prize winner, Ninajirachi has nabbed the 2025 J Award for triple j’s Australian Album of the Year with her long-awaited debut album, I Love My Computer.
She also won the award for the triple j and rage Australian Music Video of the Year for her track, Fuck My Computer, directed by Ball Bass John.

Meanwhile, Melbourne punk icons Amyl And The Sniffers claimed the Double J Australian Artist of the Year award, Folk Bitch Trio were named Unearthed Artist of the Year, and after years of grinding and being nominated twice in the category, SPEED brought it home this year with the triple j Australian Live Act of the Year award.
“One thing is for sure when it comes to Australian music in 2025 - this year has belonged to Ninajirachi,” said triple j’s Manager of Music Programming, Nick Findlay.
“I Love My Computer marks a no skip record that highlights Ninajirachi's incredible songwriting, production expertise and her ability to effortlessly shape the sound and scene of dance music both locally and abroad.”
Findlay added: “Congratulations to Ninajirachi and every J Award Winner and Nominee. It’s been another incredible year for Australian music, thank you to all the artists who’ve soundtracked our 2025.”
Last year’s J Awards winners included Sycco (triple j Australian Album of the Year), Missy Higgins (Double J Australian Artist of the Year), Lithe (Unearthed Artist of the Year), Emily Wurramara (rage and triple j Australian Music Video of the Year), and Angie McMahon (triple j Australian Live Act of the Year).
