Musica Copa Returning For 10th Anniversary Edition Ft. Bag Raiders, Crooked Colours & More
The Australian music industry’s biggest charity football tournament will be accompanied by a giant fundraising concert.

The 2023 edition of Musica Copa – the Australian music industry’s biggest charity football tournament – has been announced, alongside news of a giant fundraising concert to accompany it.
The all-inclusive mixed rules soccer game will go down on Thursday December 14, taking place at the Centennial Parklands Sports Centre in Eora/Sydney. It’ll run from 1pm to 8pm, with 36 industry-leading music businesses (split into three divisions of 12 teams) vying for their share of $50,000 in prize money – all of which, naturally, will be donated to their respective charities of choice. The public will also be invited to spectate, with tickets available via donation – head here for more info on how it all works.
Hosting the event will be ABC and CADA presenter Marty Smiley, who will be joined by triple j favourite Lucy Smith. There will also be a smattering of live performances (specific details of which are yet to be confirmed) as well as a roving soundtrack from the DJs at FBi Radio. This year’s tournament will sponsor 29 charities, with organisers aiming to raise a total of $100,000 to share between them.
Hopefully bolstering that number will be the accompanying Musica Copa fundraising concert – running from 7pm onwards at Liberty Hall, just across the street in Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter – with its lineup topped by Bag Raiders and Crooked Colours. They’ll be joined on the stage by Dena Amy, Loosie Grind, the Musica Copa All-Stars band and Tseba, as well as some additional guests who are yet to be revealed. Tickets for the gig can be found here, with all proceeds going to Musicians Making A Difference.
The inaugural Musica Copa tournament was launched in 2013 by Paul Stix and Martin Novosel, and continues to be hosted by the former’s music company UNDR Ctrl. In a press statement, Stix said of its significance: “Musica Copa is hands down one of the most rewarding and fun projects I’ve ever worked on.
“I couldn’t be happier with how the event has connected, touched and helped so many people over the past decade. Plus we’ve always wanted to throw a proper after party, so marking the tenth anniversary with a fundraising concert makes total sense. It’s a killer line-up made up of past and present Musica Copa players, throwing a huge party for a good cause.”
