VASSYDarwin-born US-based EDM performer VASSY continues her presence in the UK singles charts, now officially climbing to #1 on the Commercial Pop Top 30 with disco banger On Me.
In recent weeks, Tame Impala’s Dracula was up to #2 on the UK Official Singles Chart after a 29-week stay while Sonny Fodera, FISHER, and Dom Dolla maintain their presence in Clubland and dance-centric lists.
It’s VASSY’s third UK chart topper, with a tally of eight UK Top 10s over the years. She’s built it up through key collaborations with the likes of David Guetta and Tiësto, and with records that connected enough to generate three billion streams.
Made with producer Mind Electric, On Me first made its mark first on the UK Upfront Club Top 30, peaking at #5. It also went Top 10 in Australia on the ARIA Club Chart fuelled by remixes by Aussie DJs Douglas York and Bust-R.
She tells The Music that there was no heavy promo from her in the UK.

“On Me came off a Top 10 ARIA moment and then picked up organically in the UK. No heavy promo push – it was DJs, clubs, and tastemakers. It had that disco / UK house energy, so it just found its lane and built momentum.”
The track is also Top 20 on US Dance Radio, and was spun 10,000 times on European radio last week alone. It’s building globally through clubs, radio and streaming.
Meantime, she’s keeping herself ripping and running. New electro-bass meets tropical house vibe single Night And Day dropped Friday May 22.
In June there’s another Australian collab, a club driven bouncy piano floor-shaker.
She updates: “I’m also continuing my radio show spotlighting Aussie dance talent (Vox Radio), now across 16 networks, plus guest spots on Diplo’s Revolution on SiriusXM.
“It’s a big run of music, radio, and shows coming up – and I’ve just become a new mum, so I’m fully in mum mode as well, flying to LA for a private performance while trying to balance everything… beautifully chaotic, but I’m loving it!”
Chart Trivia From Down Under
The UK Official Singles Charts came into being in 1952. Australian acts began making their mark 12 years later.
Melbourne folk-pop group The Seekers were the first act from Australia to score a #1 single in 1965 with I'll Never Find Another You, following it up with another topper, The Carnival Is Over.
34 songs have hit pole position on the Official Singles Charts (not including the genre or indie listings). They have included Olivia Newton-John, Sia, Men At Work, Madison Avenue, Jason Donovan, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Tones & I, Peter Andre, Yolanda Be Cool vs DCUP, Joe Dolce, Gina G, Nicole Kidman, and Iggy Azalea.
The Official Chart Company compiled a list of the first 32 songs at peak spot until 2019. Since then, the number has swelled with PNAU’s remix of Elton John & Dua Lipa’s Cold Heart (2022) and XMAS from Kylie Minogue (2025).
Tones & I’s Dance Monkey (2019) has the longest stay at the top with eleven weeks. It toppled Olivia Newton-John’s You're The One That I Want (nine weeks) after 41 years.
An Australian had the biggest selling song of 2012. It was Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know, which was listed on the top shelf for five weeks.
Somebody That I Used To Know featured New Zealand born Kimbra, one of the few Kiwis to achieve top bunk status in the UK.
Other Kiwis with #1 singles were Lorde and Royals (2013), Savage who was featured vocalist on Timmy Trumpet’s Freaks (2014), and South Auckland producer Jawish 685’s instrumental Savage Love (2020).
Daniel Bedingfield, who was living in England when he had three massive upper deckers, was actually born in New Zealand, to English parents. He had dual citizenship when he had those hits.
The Official Charts Company noted that NZers such as Crowded House and Keith Urban had most success with their albums.
Jason Donovan’s RSVP is one of nine UK charters with a vowel-free title.
Missing on the list are Natalie Imbruglia, Delta Goodrem, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, INXS, The Kid LAROI, Tame Impala, and Dannii Minogue. They only got up to the #2 spot.
AC/DC are massive album movers but not their singles. Their biggest is Thunderstruck, which reached #3 on the UK Rock & Metal Singles chart. By the end of 2025, the track had spent 650 weeks on that list. Back In Black was right behind with 600+ weeks.
The Kylie Factor: 8 And Counting
Kylie Minogue is the most successful, with eight Number Ones, all which enjoyed a tally of 17 weeks at top spot. These were:
I Should Be So Lucky (1988)
Especially For You (with Jason Donovan) 1988
Hands On Your Heart (1989)
Tears On My Pillow (1990)
Spinning Around (2000)
Can’t Get You Out of My Head (2001)
Slow (2003)
XMAS (2025)
XMAS was an exclusive Amazon Music track. Kylie made history as the first female artist to have chart topping singles over four decades.
Interestingly, some of her best known hits failed to make the list. The Loco-Motion, Wouldn't Change A Thing, Better The Devil You Know, Give Me Just A Little More Time, Confide In Me, Kids, Love At First Sight, I Believed In You and On A Night Like This.
Even 2023 global smash Padam Padam stalled at #8, and the 1995 Nick Cave lovefest Where The Wild Roses Grow did a U-turn after waddling up to #11.
She was kept off top spot three times with different songs by the same band, Wet Wet Wet.
Slow, although a #1 glow-up was her lowest selling single in the UK with 169,000 units. Longest running gear-up was I Should Be So Lucky with a five-week stay, and sales of 700,000 units.
