Applications are now open for the four-day songwriting program, RESONATE.
The songwriting intensive for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander songwriters and producers was announced today by the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music Office (NATSIMO).
The next RESONATE program will take place from Tuesday, 10 June, until Friday, 13 June, at 4000 Studios in Brisbane.
RESONATE is funded by the Australian music rights management organisation, APRA AMCOS. The program offers two places to mid-career and established Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander APRA AMCOS members who practice songwriting or production.
The program fosters creativity and innovation, encouraging successful creatives to collaborate on writing and recording new music. Successful applicants will get to collaborate with BADASSMUTHA (Alinta McGrady), DOBBY, Sachém, and Velvet Trip’s Zeppelin Hamiton, as well as special guest producers Anna Laverty and Pip Norman, all of whom will be involved in this year’s program.
Now in its fifth year, the RESONATE program has had a hand in producing some of the most successful tracks released by Indigenous artists in recent years, including Tasman Keith’s IDK, Tessa Thames’ Cherry Blossoms In Tokyo, and Jem Cassar-Daley’s King Of Disappointment. The latter track was written by Cassar-Daley and Brendan Boney at the 2022 program.

DOBBY said of his involvement with this year’s program: “I'm really pumped for this year's RESONATE; it's going to be an explosion of inspiration for all involved! Any chance I get to be in a room with other creatives is a celebration; super stoked and grateful to be part of it. I encourage all songwriters to apply for this; it will be amazing!”
Zeppelin Hamilton added: “I'm so grateful to be a participant in the NATSIMO RESONATE 2025 songwriting workshop. Having a program like this set up for First Nations songwriters who are feeling their way through the industry, like myself, is an invaluable resource in connecting and developing alongside like-minded creatives."
