Newcastle-based punk band Dead Mall are dropping their new single, Everything's Broken, today, with a music video directed by Melbourne filmmaker Sam Kriesel.

You could even call them a supergroup, as the band features members from Split Feed, Jacob, Resident and Lamphead. Dead Call is Ruairi Burns, Joe Willis, Darcy Long, Adam Lindsay and Liam Ruddo. Long produced and mixed Everything's Broken while Josh Bartel of Viking Lounge Mastering mastered the track.

The five-piece cites Every Time I Die, Drug Church and Future Of The Left as their primary influences - we can't think of many better hardcore bands to pull from! Everything's Broken is noisy, chaotic, and intense and features a menacing performance from vocalist Ruairi Burns.

The band released their eponymously titled EP last year; the first single, Cough It Up, was dubbed a punchy track that "fused gruff, guttural verses with a chorus so catchy that one listen is all you'll need to have it stuck in your head for weeks" by Blunt Magazine. Since that release, Dead Mall have been playing shows along the East Coast of Australia with the groups Honest Crooks, Peace Ritual and Whatever, Forever.

Dead Mall aimed to soundtrack the frustrations we all struggled with over the last few years in an attempt to find optimism in hopelessness with Everything's Broken.

"The track was written last year, and at the time, it felt like everything was falling apart," guitarist Joe Willis says. "This is a reaction to that and describes that feeling of trying to put things at the back of your mind so you can keep moving forward but still having that eerie feeling of uncertainty weighing on you.

"We’ve got this track and another single to follow while we work on a larger body of work. I think these tracks are the heaviest we’ll go before venturing into a bit more of a rock style. We definitely wanted to see how heavy we could go with these releases, and we’re super stoked with them, but future Dead Mall will be much different, and we're really excited with the direction we're taking."
