Touch Sensitive is one of Australia’s undeniable masters of music.

At the end of last year, the producer, DJ and bass wizard released Cold Cuts, an infectious, festival built selection of tracks that are inspired by club leaning sounds that honour and live up to the greats of house music.

The EP picks up where his previous The 36th Level project left off in 2019, starring his quintessential and iconic fan loved synths and pushing them into the world of of Italo and deep disco house. The EP manifests into four tracks of crushing dance worthy numbers that feature clinical production that evoke nostalgia and euphoria.

On the project he states, “I have to give credit where credit’s due… Rosario, collaborator and longtime friend, coined the phrase [Cold Cuts] as the cover depicts my uncle Mario in his delicatessen in the 90s. The vibe is meant to be what the sounds of that period would have been, and really, when you break it down, not much has changed… I was working on the EP in America while I was living there.

“Unfortunately he [Mario] passed away, then Covid came, and I kinda shelved it for a bit but in the end I got around to finishing it. So here it is, Part 2 in a tribute series to my heroes. This time it’s my uncle Mario, an Italian’s Italian. R.I.P. this is for you.”

Since breaking onto the scene with his highly acclaimed debut album Visions, Touch Sensitive has delivered his infectious dance and disco inspired fans to thousands of fans. He’s performed at the likes of Splendour In The Grass, Laneway, Beyond The Valley, Falls Festival and more, as well as supporting the likes of RÜFÜS DU SOLFlume, and given ARIA-Award winning artist Genesis Owusu the bass treatment as both a studio and live band member.

With such a revered background, it’s obvious that Touch Sensitive is a man of taste, so we have been lucky enough to grab him to break down the top 5 tracks that are dominating his DJ sets at the moment.

Good Times (Braxe & Falcon Remix) – Jungle
The dream team, individually I’ve been a fan of these guys since forever, and now as well as being related they're making music together. It was a hard decision chasing between this one and another favourite from them “Step By Step” featuring Panda Bear, both are definitely worth checking out, but this remix brings a fist full of joy out of my pocket and into the air every time I hear it.

Nothing You Can Do - Street Player
And speaking of DJ Falcon, this track would be right at home on Roule circa 2002, it’s totally got that early thousands Bangalter thing happening - not taking anything away from Street Player, he nailed it.

Make It Stay (Gerd Janson remix) - Lauer
I’ve been playing this one for a while, I first heard of Lauer when Nathan from Future Classic suggested him for a remix of Pizza Guy and I’ve been a fan since; the OG is more Italo disco and the Gerd Janson makes it a bit more club, it always goes down well.

Holy Hell (Mndsgn Remix) - Eddie Chacon
I love all the Eddie Chacon stuff he’s been doing with John Carol Kirby - the original of this track is also something special, but the Mndsgn mix here is awesome and a nice twist on the original (which is also worth checking out if you haven’t already heard it).

Come Inside (Kaytranada Edit) - Lou Phelps feat. Jazz Cartier
This is a few years old now but still appeals to me on many levels, Kaytranada is a master at drums and on this one he killed it more than usual for me. I think originally this lived as an instrumental first and the vocals came later (though someone correct me if I’m wrong). Both versions are cool.
