Off the back of her debut album 'Acadie: Raw' 30/70 member Allysha Joy shares the top five albums that inspired her while making it.

ALLYSHA JOY is a key part of Melbourne collective 30/70, but it's on her own that magic truly happens. A singer, pianist, writer and poet, her music takes an upbringing of jazz, R&B, soul and hip-hop and distills it into something raw, complex and uniquely her. She's just dropped her debut album Acadie: Raw - a collection of deeply empathetic tracks that mark a defiant statement of hope. This feeling is best expressed on 'Selfish'; with old-school instrumentation and soulful vocals, Allysha Joy paints a picture of "a lover that won't let go."

Featuring members of 30/70Acadie: Raw is to Allysha Joy, "a chance to express a deeper, more personal side of self and to take full control of the vision and the music." To celebrate the release of her debut, we asked Allysha about the top five albums that inspired the many sounds and ideas present on Acadie: Raw.

Meshelle Ndegeocello - Hot Night

Such a badass! The playing, the production and the lyricism is all perfection! She explores so many different vibes in her records but my favs are definitely Cookie and Peace beyond Passion.

Clever Austin - NUNU Mixtape

Perrin Moss is so incredibly humble and underrated it's painful. One of the most beautiful and gentle souls making incredible music. Everyone's listened to Hiatus, but you gotta check Clever Austin! The production is amazing!

Erykah Badu (Produced and Written by Badu and Georgia Anne Muldrow)

Dream team!! Badu and Georgia just combine jazz and hip hop in the best way possible! They are definitely my biggest inspirations and i'm constantly learning more and more from their music, the production, the rawness, the realness, the arranging, the playing, the lyricism.

Azymuth - Donna Olimpia

30/70 are big Azymuth fans and when it came to mixing this was definitely a big inspiration for the Rhodes and the percussion. Plus obviously just amazing grooves.

Slum Village - Jealousy

When we first started making this record, 30/70 had a side project called 'A Brother Scratch' and we were listening to a lot of Dilla! Slum and Illa J on high rotation. It was a seriously potent time for us all in our musical growth and this is what we were listening to. Its had a huge impact on me in feel, production and writing, i love the group vocal vibe on these records!

Arcadie : Raw is out now.
