Revered Sydney hip hop label Big Village Records is releasing a collaborative single, Be Ready, featuring some of its talented roster of artists, including Mathas, Omar Musa, P.Smurf and Rapaport.
The message of the song, which is produced by The Boost Hero Man, is one of sincerity, arising from conversations among the group of acts around racism and free speech in Australia.
"We wanted to shine a light on the fact that parts of Australian culture still have deep-seeded racist attitudes that need to be discussed and changed," the rappers said in a statement.
The group is currently in the midst of a massive run of shows dubbed 'The Big Vacation', which pairs live performance with a series of youth workshops in partnership with Rapaport's hip hop education organisation, School Of Rap.
Having already graced the stage at the recent Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong and Melbourne's Gasometer Hotel, the tour will next take the four to Brisbane this Saturday, 7 October.
They also have additional dates lined up in Bunbury, Fremantle, Margaret River, Perth and Canberra before they hit Sydney's Oxford Art Factory for the Big Village Block Party, and round out at Monkerai's Subsonic Festival, as part of the Big Village Allstars show.
Tickets are available now through the label.
