The Cornish strives to perfect the traditional pub menu and to diversify it with items like their award-winning vegan parma, which is now enjoyed by a unique mix of Brunswick veterans and a younger crowd. Vegetarians, vegans and celiacs are all covered here as well as pub grub purists after the perfect porterhouse steak.
For traditional pub grubbers, try the succulent lemon myrtle and sage crumbed pork rib eye, served with potato gratin, greens and mustard sauce. For the vegans, take your pick from seven mains, including the vegan souvlaki: spiced duck and chicken seitan, with mixed salad, wrapped up with special garlic sauce and chilli, served with chips and salad.
The Cornish boasts a renovated courtyard that accommodates 40, a perfect place to lounge in the sun, perhaps with a Trumpeters Alcoholic Iced Tea in hand, poured from the carafe garnished with ice and lemon (a notable cure for hangovers). Beer-wise, highlights include Stone & Wood or Boatrocker Smash; fresh, zesty and crisp.
With live music happening Friday through Sunday, usually free of charge, and an Open Mic night on Mondays, the Cornish provides an afternoon sanctuary to watch the sunset roll in off Sydney Road.

Historically, this venue was one of Melbourne’s prime drinking holes for gold diggers on their way to the mines. The pub then moved on to become a highlight of the grunge and punk rock scenes, and now the Cornish Arms presents itself as a laidback, unpretentious, vegan-friendly pub and live music venue that caters to an eclectic crowd.
