He’s constantly poking fun at himself on social media; a classic incident in 2017 saw the singer share a viral, self-deprecating fictional “2006 Tour Setlist” which featured You’re Beautiful eleven times, interrupted by Metallica’s Enter Sandman.
More recently, he posted a video of himself getting face paint put on with the caption, “You can’t polish a turd.” Plus, his Instagram bio reads, “Cockney rhyming slang for the good stuff; Proof that one song is all you need.”
So, a self-deprecating merch bundle for the British singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album, Airplane Mode, isn’t all that surprising.
This week, Blunt took to social media to announce that all physical pre-orders of his new album – set for release on Friday, 6 November – will arrive with a sick bag; the kind you see on aeroplanes. Even better still, Blunt is signing all sick bags.
“If you pre-order any bundle of my new album Airplane Mode direct from my official online store, you’ll also get a custom air-sick bag, signed by me,” he wrote on social media. In brackets, he quipped that “According to some,” sick bags are “the best accompaniment to my music.”

Blunt announced his new album earlier this month, along with the release of the single, Weight Of It All, following the drop of Tastes Like Summer in August.
Airplane Mode has been described as a return to form for Blunt, who recorded most of the album at Pig Music Studios in Oxfordshire with his live band. He explained, “Somewhere back there, I lost my way but found it again in a studio in Banbury.”
Since releasing his last album, 2023’s Who We Used To Be, Blunt has celebrated the 20th anniversary of his classic debut album, Back to Bedlam, with a remastered edition and a world tour – including stops in Australia last October.
Back to Bedlam has been certified eight times Platinum in Australia since it debuted at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart in October 2004. The album features Blunt’s Platinum hit singles You’re Beautiful and Goodbye My Lover.
