An Australian producer/singer/songwriter who's ready to lift off..
Created originally as an experimental side project for Perth-based vocalist Emma Carn (who has featured on some massive singles for the likes of Kungs), Luna May has quickly become an avenue for Carn to showcase her immense talent as a solo artist. Writing, singing and producing her own work, she's released a few singles over the past 12 months of existence, and started playing shows including a sold out support for Vera Blue earlier in the year.
Channelling the melancholy of artists such as Banks and Luna Del Rey, Luna May's voice shines brightly on its own right, and if new single Strings is anything to go by, the transition into world-beating solo artist is almost a formality. The production sounds big and lush, but with a controlled sparse-ness that lets her powerful vocals shine. Having spent the past few years featuring and writing for electronic musicians under an alias that have amassed over 15 million streams globablly, Luna May enters the music world with a wealth of knowledge, understanding, and most importantly, talent, that makes this only a matter of when, not if.
If you're in WA you'll be able to get a little sneak peek this weekend when she joins a regular Pile-fave, Palais, to sing vocals with him for his debut live performance, supporting Gang Of Youths, Jarryd James and Bag Raiders (more info/tickets HERE).
