1. Kate Miller-Heidke at Bathurst Entertainment Centre

Kicking off your Great Southern Nights road trip in Bathurst is a fantastic idea, especially with the powerhouse vocals of Kate Miller-Heidke leading the way.

Recognised for her operatic voice and unique blend of pop, folk, and classical music, Kate will be gracing the Bathurst Entertainment Centre. If you're a fan of her emotionally-charged ballads and dramatic performances, this gig is a must. She has the kind of music that almost forces tears to drip down from your eyes. 

Beyond the music, Bathurst is known for its rich history, including the famous Mount Panorama racing circuit. 2. Thelma Plum at Silverton Hotel (Broken Hill)

Next stop: Broken Hill, a town that feels like it's straight out of a Western film. I mean, they quite literally filmed Mad Max there. Located in the far west of New South Wales, Broken Hill is known for its stunning outback scenery and mining heritage.

Here, you’ll find the Silverton Hotel, one of Australia’s most iconic venues. This is where you can experience Thelma Plum’s raw and soulful tunes.

Thelma Plum’s indie-pop style and storytelling prowess have earned her a loyal fanbase across the country. With her powerful voice and poignant lyrics, her performance at Silverton Hotel will undoubtedly leave you spellbound.

3. The Screaming Jets at Broken Hill Civic Centre

Still in Broken Hill? Great – because the Aussie rock legends The Screaming Jets will be performing at the Broken Hill Civic Centre.

If you're into raw, unapologetic Aussie rock, then this is the gig for you. The Screaming Jets are renowned for their high-energy performances, gritty guitar riffs, and unforgettable anthems like Better and P.S. I Love You

Next up on your Great Southern Nights road trip, make your way to Orange for a soulful experience with Ben Lee at the Orange Regional Conservatorium. A beloved figure in the Australian indie scene, Ben Lee is known for his introspective songwriting and infectious melodies. From his early hits like Cigarettes Will Kill You to his more recent work, Lee’s performance promises to be a melodic journey worth taking.

5. Sons Of The East at Tamworth Hotel

No Aussie music road trip would be complete without a stop in Tamworth, Australia’s country music capital. While Tamworth is famous for its annual Country Music Festival, Sons Of The East are bringing an entirely new flavour to the Tamworth Hotel; namely their rootsy folk-pop sound. This Sydney-based trio is known for their feel-good harmonies and catchy tunes, blending folk, rock, and blues in a way that will have you tapping your feet all night long.

Tamworth is not only about country music. It’s also home to stunning rural landscapes, delicious local produce, and a rich history. Then, head to the Tamworth Hotel to experience the magic of Sons Of The East – a perfect mix of music and country charm.

6. Thirsty Merc at West Tamworth Leagues

While you’re still in Tamworth, make sure to catch Thirsty Merc at West Tamworth Leagues. The Aussie rock band, known for their hits like 20 Good Reasons and In The Summertime, will light up the stage with their anthemic sound (you probably know the latter track as being the theme tune to Bondi Rescue). Thirsty Merc’s blend of pop-rock and infectious energy is perfect for a night out in the lively setting of West Tamworth Leagues. 

The venue itself is a relaxed, community-focused space, offering an intimate concert experience. After the show, Tamworth’s lively pubs and local eateries will keep you entertained, so you can extend the fun and enjoy a true taste of the local culture.

7. CYRIL at Wests Diggers

Capping off your Great Southern Nights road trip is a stop in Tamworth, where the talented CYRIL will be performing at Wests’ Diggers.

CYRIL’s combination of EDM, folk, rock, and soul with an old-school vibe promises to be the perfect end to your musical and countryside-exploring journey. The laid-back atmosphere of Wests’ Diggers, combined with CYRIL’s captivating stage presence, creates an unforgettable musical experience.

Tamworth is a vibrant city, with incredible scenic views, and a thriving arts scene (and, of course, the Tamworth Country Music Festival). Explore the local cafes and art galleries, and then head to Wests’ Diggers for a night of great music. CYRIL’s performance will be the perfect send-off as you complete your Great Southern Nights adventure. 

A bit bruised, a bit tired, you’ll then head back home. The memories will mark your head like pretty tattoos. A wide smile will grow on your face as you leave it all behind. Back to real world, at least for a little while.

8. Xavier Rudd at Dashville

One of Australia’s favourite songwriters, Xavier Rudd, is set to play an unforgettable show in a stunning location. Taking over Dashville, located in the Hunter Valley, Rudd and special guest Lisa Purmodh will perform at the beautiful outdoor bushland Dashville arena. The special show will take place on Saturday, 29 March.

Set to be an incredible evening of live music and human connection, the concert arena is also home to Ruby's Pizzeria and bar, welcomes fans of all ages, and camping.

In between the live music, why not lose yourself in the Hunter Valley - one of Australia’s major wine regions. Home to multiple wineries, including world-renowned brands and family-run boutique operations, there’s more to the region than wine. There are spas, live music, gourmet delights at decadent restaurants, and picturesque landscapes, such as enchanting gardens.
