“It's Such A Trap”: Meg Mac Refuses To Be Another Tragic Tale On 'It's My Party'

The inspiring life of Lizardman

What inspired you to become Lizardman? My transformation began as a body-based performance art concept and then developed from there.

What do you have in store for the Sideshow Festival? I’ll be bringing some of my favorite and signature acts like the cranial corkscrew and pierced weightlifting.

What is the strangest thing somebody’s ever said about you? A young girl once ran up to me and exclaimed, ‘Oh my god! You’re my biggest fan!’ I think she was a little overexcited, it was funny when she realised it.

How many years did your transformation take? I started getting work done around December of 1993 or January of 1994, after about three years of consideration and planning. I’ve still got probably another 80 to 100 hours of tattooing left to be done.

Which of your acts gets the biggest reaction? I think it depends on the individual: different people like different acts or even different presentations of the same act. That said, the World Record lifts and pulls I’ve done with my ears seem to be a crowd pleaser anywhere in the world.

Have you inspired any others to follow in your footsteps? I’ve had a few people say I’ve inspired them – some to get into sideshow and some just generally in life.
