Kylie MinogueIt’s the first day of April – a date that seems as ordinary as any other, until you open social media today, that is.
Today, every second post you see on your favourite social media platform is filled with April Fools’ Day pranks. Most of them are harmless; some are irritating; some are unbelievable. And, to make matters worse, AI-generated posts are getting in the way of traditional pranks.
From an Australian music promoter joking about launching an airline and another teasing bubble-wrapped mosh pits, The Music has rounded up some of the best gags presented by the Australian music industry.
UNTITLED AIRWAYS
That’s right, concert and festival promoters Untitled Group “introduced” a private charter service.
The promoters’ social media post said the Airways would offer “curated flight packages” to festivals and locations including “Glitch, Waking Life, Dekmantel, Georgia, (not Berlin because it’s not 2012) and Athens.”
The statement continued, “Untitled Airways makes it easier than ever to peer pressure your friends into committing to the idea that going to see [add in underground DJ] at Bassiani is better than saving for peptides.
“Step on board Untitled Airways, and tag that friend who's overdue for that skinny European summer trip.”
PRIVATE FUNCTION GETTING BACK TOGETHER
Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter
Honestly, even with today being April Fools’ Day, there was always a slim possibility that Private Function meant it when they said they were getting back together. But there’s no point getting our hopes up.
“We’ve decided to get back together,” the band wrote on social media today.
They continued, “Breaking up the band was a crazy decsion and we don’t know what we were thinking. See you at a PF show real soon.”
PF STILL ON TOP, even when they mess with our emotions.
SAMMY J’S RETURN TO RADIO
Surely, nobody believed Australian comedian Sammy J when he posted about his return to radio this morning—and at Nova FM with Jackie O, no less. Doesn’t make joking about it less fun, though.
“It’s been so hard to keep this news under wraps but beyond thrilled to be making my return to radio alongside Jackie O - and with gratitude to Nova for believing in us,” Sammy J wrote. “More details to follow - exciting new chapter ahead.”
P!NK TO PERFORM ONE-OFF SHOW… IN BENDIGO?
Okay, this one was a bit mean—Good Charlotte just performed a huge show at the Bendigo Racecourse. Hence, another international star heading to the regional Victorian city isn’t exactly outside the realm of possibility.
Nonetheless, Hit91.9 Bendigo had some fun with followers today by “announcing” that P!nk was going to play a one-off show “as part of Easter celebrations this weekend.”
“BIG ANNOUNCEMENT,” the radio station began. “Following on from the overwhelming success of Good Charlotte in February… Bendigo has somehow secured another global superstar.
“P!nk is set to perform a one-off show as part of Easter celebrations this weekend. Tickets on sale at 12pm April 1st 2026.”
In the comments, the radio station added:
If you fell for that… 'So What' 😏
We hate to 'Raise Your Glass' and break it to you... but no one-off P!nk show in Bendigo this weekend…
Unless she decides to 'Get the Party Started' at the Bendigo Racecourse 👀
Happy April Fools’ Day 💗
RAGE LOSES ARCHIVE—INCLUDING COUNTDOWN
Too obvious! rage took to social media today and said their new “intern” misunderstood the instructions of “clean out the hard drives” and put them in the dishwasher.
They then said they’d lost a massive list of music videos, including the Countdown archive.
The first person who sent the videos would receive a rage bucket hat and “official rage paperweights.”
QUDOS BANK ARENA INTRODUCES TREADMILL ZONE
You know what, a treadmill zone isn’t a terrible idea…
“‘I can't go, I have to hit the gym.’ – Said no one ever again,” a post from Ticketek and Qudos Bank Arena reads.
It continued, “Introducing the TREADMILL ZONE at @qudosbankarena! We’re bringing the workout to the show. 🎸 Clock your cardio while your favourite artist play their hits. It’s time to Run Your Concert.
“Keep an eye on our socials and the seating maps for upcoming winter tours to secure your machine!”
In a graphic of the venue’s seating map, a “fitness zone” was photoshopped into the picture. Well played, team.
DESTROY ALL LINES X NEW “SAFETY REQUIREMENTS” FOR HEAVY SHOWS
A new “safety initiative” was announced by tour promoters Destroy All Lines today.
The important announcement was said to come in “effective immediately” and impact all heavy shows. DAL joked that they, along with OH&S Australia, introduced “mandatory Bubble Wrap Safety Suits for all attendees at circle pit-enabled shows.”
The new requirements would include a “full-body bubble wrap suit,” “helmet optional but encouraged,” and double-wrapping for Wall of Death participants.
“We’re committed to ensuring every fan can safely enjoy the chaos,” said the promoters’ Head of Pit Safety, “who definitely exists.”
You’ll need an extra 45 minutes upon arrival for bubble wrapping.
NEW KYLIE EP?
Fans who saw Kylie Minogue tease a new release for midnight might have believed that a new EP was really on the way.
With song titles such as Sydney River, Take Me To The River, and Hot Air Balloon For Two, the link in her Instagram Stories leads to the music video for Kylie’s track, What Kind of Fool.
“NEW CONCERT ETIQUETTE RULES” AT MUSICA VIVA
Sydney-based Musica Viva Australia shared an update to its “concert etiquette guidelines,” effective immediately.
The new rules included “clapping between movements” – good for morale! – as well as audiences humming along if they recognise songs, “pre-booked” standing ovations via QR code, latecomers escorted onstage to assist with page turns, and synchronised coughing with the music.
