“What’s more offensive? A little girl saying ‘fuck’ or the fucking unequal and sexist way society treats girls and women?”..
One of this country's bright young things has a killer new EP out.. We've had a rad time following the progress of young Melbourne producer Yeo for the past couple of years. First coming across with him the tune Girl, each new piece of music has been a joyous example of the perfect meld between production and songwriting. The fact he's a super chill, humble little dude just makes it all the more fun and easy. He recently joined Peking Duk for a bunch of shows on their Australian tour, and we were blown away by how well he locked down some big crowds. And with that, we're stoked to premiere his new EP Come Find Me, officially out now (BUY IT HERE), but available for stream below. Get lost in the world of Yeo before the EP's release tomorrow, and catch him at one of the following live dates (which we reckon there'll be a few more of over the summer). Sat 8 Nov: Shebeen, Melbourne Thur 11 Dec: Brighton Up Bar, Sydney Follow Yeo: FACEBOOK // WEBSITE
Slow Magic's new album is out today, and that is cause for celebration.. Today sees the release of the follow-up to 2012’s beloved and critically acclaimed ∆ album, and How To Run Away reflects uncharted growth for masked forest imaginery friend, Slow Magic. Oozing both otherworldly beauty and a mastery of production, we've already been teased with a couple of singles in Girls and Hold Still, which you can enjoy below during my brief chat with Slow Magic, for once on a tiny break out of the touring schedule, along with a video feature we filmed with him while in Australia earlier this year: Hey man how’s it going? Where abouts are you today? Secretly I’m in Colarado right now. I have a little bit of break here getting ready for the US tour. Few and far between? Yeah I just got here and I’m about to leave soon ha ha. Congrats on the album, what’s your vibe on the eve of its release? Yeah I mean I’m definitely really excited for people to finally hear it, a little bit nervous I think, j
The fourth annual photo comp has commenced.. True story: One year I entered the Monster Children Photo Competition with an arty-as-shit black-and-white nude photo of my girlfriend. I was pretty chuffed with it, and apparently they were chuffed with it enough that it got through to the second round, I think. I even got invited to go over east to the competition awards night. Long story short I couldn't afford to go over, didn't win anything, a whole bunch of people I don't know have now seen my girlfriend's boobs, and I haven't touched a camera since. Okay that last bit's kinda true. I stopped taking photos because I got bored of it and realised I have zero eye for what makes a good photo, not because I didn't win this Monster Children Photo Competiton. But you could win the Monster Children Photo Competition in 2014 if you're good enough. It's pretty simple, just head to the MC website HERE and submit your entries in one of the following categories: • Travel sponsored by Corona Extra •
Tunes galore from Slow Magic, plus a lil video of him hanging out in Perth.. Slow Magic's Australian tour earlier this year was one we haven't soon forgotten. It might sound simple, but just adding a couple of toms to his live sets and having him gesticulating wildly around them for the duration was a sight to be hold - immensely engaging and procurating massive positive vibes for the set's entirety. The fact his music is a thing of joyous beauty certainly doesn't hurt, which is why we're salivating at the prospect of his new album. Due via Create/Control/Downtown on September 12, How To Run Away looks to reflect his growth since his much-adored first album, ∆, dripping with otherworldly beats and organic production. Having already released one single in GIRLS, below you can stream the latest, swirling release in Hold Still: And as a little bonus, here's a short video recap of Slow Magic's time in Perth, where we took him to Timezone - just 'cause:
