New Music: Porsches - Horses
Summer-vibes abound on Horses, a teaser from fresh Australian project Porsches.. Summer (noun) – The time of year where everyone in Australia heads to the beach equipped with their finest beers and smoothest tunes. Picking the ultimate summer jam can be a hard one, with piles beyond piles of new releases hitting the airwaves every week. However, thanks to a new Australian electronic duo going by the name of Porsches, we may have an absolute ripper of a contender. Released as a ‘teaser’ of things to come, Horses is the ultimate song of the summer. A killer combination of bouncy synth, delicate vocals, and a smooth electronic beat is all that is needed by Porsches to captivate us with this tune. It is flame-emoji deserving in every way and definitely getting us keen for their debut single (plus live sets) this coming February. Having already debuted on BBC Radio One last week, Horses is available for the cheap price of free via their Soundcloud, however if you rate it so much, you can al

Eglo Records Australian Tour feat. Fatima & Alexander Nut
The Eglo Records stars bring their classic soul and R & B sounds to our shores.. One of the highlights of my year was seeing London-based singer Fatima singing on the Eglo Records boat party at Dimensions Festival in Croatia; her warm, soulful croon shimmered harder than the Adriatic sea we were floating on. An Erykah Badu for our millennial generation, Fatima’s sung, and written, for some of the most future-forward producers out; a diverse range of artists that encompasses Ras G, to Teebs, Funkineven, Dam Funk, Scratcha DVA, Flako and of course, her work as the in-house vocalist for UK-based label Eglo Records, founded by Alexander Nut and Floating Points. Although she’s been in the game for years, only a few months ago did she put out a full debut, Yellow Memories, and it was worth the wait: the genre cornerstones of the album are introspective R & B, and soul; but within that framework Fatima moves from bouncy, funky jams to smooth, seductive stuff in an easy breath. New Music: Porter Robinson - Years of War (Golden Features Remix)
The Golden Features goose has laid two golden eggs today; a remix and an original.. Golden Features entered the music scene as a storm-cloud of mystery in February of this year, attracting the curiosity of music commentators everywhere, who began penning speculative articles (Golden Features Is Big In Australia Right Now – But Who Is He?) It didn’t take long for that cloud to crack open (Golden Features reveals his secret identity!) and for Sydney producer Tom Stell to rain down showers of tantalizing electronica upon us; as 2014 progressed, Stell continued to drench us with moody bass and strike us with lightning hooks: Tell Me, Guillotine, Factory... throw in a bunch of incredible audiovisual shows at festivals and clubs across the country and as we near the end of 2014, Stell’s indelibly carved a strong statement in the Australian contemporary electronic landscape. Someone whose always backed Stell from the beginning, and was one of the first to say the Golden Features EP was "aweso

New Music: Azealia Banks - Chasing Time (Høwl Remix)
Høwl drops a fiery remix of Azealia Banks' Chasing Time.. Not to be confused with Ta-Ku and Kit Pop's project HWLS, Høwl is Melbourne wunder-kid James Moriarty's (also the same name as the central villain in Sherlock Holmes) moniker where he drops some vicious knick/snare combos that make us think of Sable/Night Cruise. While the young producer has had a short history it's been an inciting one when he dropped a Friday Freebie for us and also featured on the recent Rat Pack #2 Compilation. And now he has remixed Azealia Banks. This guy has our hearts' a flutter. Høwl changes up Chasing Time into a hyper-active, pounding trip. And his traditionally bass-driven focus drifts a little as he tweaks the vocals alongside some glittering synths that give the feeling that the track just recieved an injection of adrenaline. New Music: Strain of Origin IV Compilation
Talented underground electronic artists re-imagine each others' tracks.. I know the compilation we should be pushing right now is our own one, but there's another compilation out now, Strain of Origin IV, that I really want to give some love to, as well. It's beats/electronic based, but not for the dancefloor by any stretch - it's altogether more experimental, and darker. Strain of Origin is Australian label Feral Media’s annual compilation series, where they enlist some of the most exciting underground acts from around Australia and ask those acts to submit a track to be remixed, and in turn receive a track from another artist to remix themselves for the release. Last year’s Strain of Origin III was a beauty – some of the works to come out of that became firm favourites, like the spacey, moody, meditative instrumental remix of witch-haus artist ¹fm¹’s track Maise, done by Vacant Lake (the solo project of Berlin / Melbourne artist Beres Jackson). Another great one to come out of that c

Video: WAAX - Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom Teeth packs a punch but the feeling doesn't last for long.. It's not everyday someone writes a song about wisdom teeth. Those teeth that everyone dreads being told you have to get out because you'll end up looking like a chipmunk afterwards. And that's what WAAX's latest track Wisdom Teeth is about and they've got a completely unrelated music video to boot, which is no less a fun and colouful time at the rock show. Wisdom Teeth is a clean-cut rock track that attempts to get in your face with it's meaty riffs and Marie De Vita's snarling vocals, and it does so with a fair amount of success, although at times the clean production sees the track lack that raw energy. Indeed, much like when you get your wisdom teeth ripped out it smarts for a brief period but over time it drifts from your mind. The music video - with it's heavily edited chopping style and constantly shifting colours - does enhance the punch of the track, and you can check it out below: Follow on WAAX: FACEBOOK

New Music: Indian Summer - Loveweights Feat. Shaqdi
A dulcet tone infused slow-burner from the steadily rising duo that are Indian Summer.. After wrapping a short tour in America where we were given an exclusive tour diary that showed off the glory that is Indian Summer they're now back in Australia with a new single. It's titled Loveweights and features vocals from Swedish vocalist Shaqdi. Loveweights starts out minimal with a tingling piano and a rough filter before it gradually builds to add in the delicate voice of Shaqdi and a warbling percussion. Shaqdi's voice then cuts through the track for a solo highlight of her angelic tones that then meld smoothly with the dry percussion. And throughout all of it that rough filter remains giving the track this sense of imperfection that makes the track as a whole feel far more natural. Keep your eyes peeled for the accompanying video clip, as we may know who had a hand in producing it ;) Follow Indian Summer: FACEBOOK

Willow Beats - Perth Ticket Giveaway
Win a soul-stirring Willow Beats experience in Perth.. There's a tonne of events happening this December in Perth. If you're feeling overwhelmed by how all the parties and gigs are ramping up, and feeling indecisive as to what exactly is worth your social time and money then hey, we'll make it easy for you. Go to Willow Beats next week at the Astor Theatre next Thursday. Essential. Why? Because seeing an act play a proper headline gig at a proper venue, where they'll play a full set with heaps of added extras, and you have room to dance and meditate on sound, is about 100x better than seeing them play a rushed 'best of' at a crowded music festival with rubbish sound. Also, as far as venues go, a historic art-deco theatre built in the 1920s, is pretty shit-hot place to experience a gig. And lastly (most importantly) Willow Beats are positively peaking right now, entering into the tail-end of a huge year of live shows - all of which you could say have been leading up to this Water EP tou

New Music: Floria - Bring It Back
Floria is a young Brisbane producer taking on the future R&B sound.. The other week in his Mix-Up Exclusive for Nina Las Vegas, Pilerats Records producer Sable got the rap fan in me a bit riled up when he threw some cheeky raps into his mix: bookended by Danny Brown, and Rich Homie Quan's Some Type of Way, was a futuristic R & B track with a Ty Dolla $ign-style golden vocal. A bit of Twitter digging uncovered that it was a little sneak peek into new material from young Brisbane producer Floria, and to keep our eyes peeled for its imminent release. Above: Floria We didn’t have to wait long – today Floria premiered Bring It Back via Acid Stag, and it’s a dream for anyone whose idea of a good time lies in seductive, vocal crooning over a wavvy contemporary beat. The artwork is on point too. I’m not going to reference The Weekend because every other article is going to do that, instead I’ll say that in a year of hosting Cloudwaves, a radio show focused on modern, alternative R & B, Floria’
