World War Z offers up a lot more spectacle than any other zombie movie I can recall.

There’s still a freshness and vivacity to Monsters University that perks things up a bit, whether it’s in the eye-candy visuals or the surprisingly nuanced treatment of dreams, ambitions and hard work.

Director Todd Phillips still has a strong visual sense and a flair for the odd outrageous moment but the cast members seem to be going through the motions with one eye on the clock. As a result, it’s not so much a celebration as... well, an obligation.
