Video: Pond - Zond
Nothing will ever make sense again.. Read our recent interview with Pond HERE. Pond have been making waves recently with their video for Elvis’ Flaming Star and were so kind to let us ask them about how they’re big fans of The Mighty Boosh (interview above), and now they’ve gone and sent this as part of their latest video: “Probably the hardest part of making this was finding three elderly citizens who looked identical to what our computer projections told us Jay, Joe and Nick will look like in the twilight of their lives.” Spoiler: they just dyed their hair grey. But that isn’t the point, the point is that once you’ve watched the confusing, brain-self-destruct-inducing video that is Zond you won’t know what the point is. They’ve taken glam-rock and had it fertilise post-modernity and voila! Zond is also a damn good song on its own fusing their earlier massive rock breakdowns with some serious spaced-out moments. So keep an eye out for their album Man, It Feels Like Space Again coming

New Music: Django Django – First Light
Django Django have dropped their fiery energy but kept their zany synths in their new single First Light.. First Light is our first sign of Django Django potentially shifting away from psychedelic jaggly indie-pop into a far more reserved synth-driven voyage. Indeed the track seems to embrace the use of synths over their previous tracks which played guitars, drums and synths off against each other. Highlighting a change from break-out tunes like Default with its catchy drum beat, instead First Light draws its appeal through a very '80s styled use of synths and a deep seated bass line. Which is really pushed in the uplifting chorus that is somewhat dragged down by the slightly monotonous voice of Vincent Neff. So while First Light doesn’t carry the explosive energy of their earlier work it does signal a shift in sonic direction towards more ponderous and varied synth-driven tracks.   Follow Django Django: WEBSITE / FACEBOOK / TWITTER / INSTAGRAM

New Music: Purity Ring – Begin Again
Rapture in a song.. Future pop starlets Purity Ring have just dropped their second single, Begin Again, off their upcoming album Another Eternity (due March 3 2015 via 4AD) so just stop whatever you’re doing. It’s wild burning passion encased with a cold prison of dry percussions. Push Pull may have been a strong start but Begin Again with its tingling synths, growling bass and sharp percussive claps stay in your mind long after the track stops. And come the ecstasy-inducing breakdown it’s hard not to love this song. And that’s before the fiery love that anchors this song is even considered especially when singer Megan James cries, "My moon o my moon not even into another eternity will you stop your lovely orbiting…" Showing how much like the moon and earth they’re forever locked together. And I wouldn’t be surprised if you struggled to break away from the rapture that is this song. Follow Purity Ring: FACEBOOK / TUMBLER

5 Under 500
Five bands on the come-up we're keeping an eye on.. A lot of acts that you read about on music websites - the hot/upcoming/buzz-worthy articles - come from a press release, with the authors sent a lot of awesome new music and having to sift through for the good stuff. With that in mind we thought we'd go on a little hunt through the online realm to try and find a few acts that haven't broken over the 500-Like mark (because like it or not, the number of FB likes you've accrued can play a role in the amount of online love you'll receive). So we hope 5 UNDER 500 will bring to your attention a few emerging acts, who are under 500 likes on Facebook, and whose sounds we are very much digging. Men Among Boys – Rivers  With a clear influences being Kanye West’s album 808s & Heartbreak the credibility of Men Among Boys wavers until you realize they were able to take a piece of genius and re-appropriate it into something that has its own identity. Rivers appears as a elemental slow-jam with echo

New Music: Sam Smith – Leave Your Lover (Motez Remix)
Motez puts his midas touch on Sam Smith’s latest single Leave Your Lover.. After thrashing out an huuuge set at Pilerats very own Wonderland Festival at the end of 2014 Motez has now started 2015 with a remix of Sam Smith’s Leave Your Lover that carries some serious fire. And at nearly six minutes in length it’s how house should be, slow-burning, full of dark bass lines and dulcet vocals. It’s even better when you’ve got Sam Smith’s voice to mess around with. Opening up with a steady clap, slow piano keys and that candied voice it slowly melds from a emotive atmosphere into a heaving wub-filled beast. From there the leviathan that has formed bursts throughout the track but also fuses easily with the golden tweaks that Motez add alongside Sam Smith’s vocals. And while it’s only the beginning of 2015 this remix is a definite stand out already.

Interview: Little Dragon
We chat with Little Dragon ahead of their time in Australia with the Laneway festival.. Little Dragon's fourth album Nabuma Rubberband was a fiery piece of electronica mashed with the haunting vocals of Yukimi Nagano. 2014 has been an exciting year for Little Dragon as they have toured all over the world but have sadly only played two shows in Australia. Following up from their tour of Europe and America Liam Apter chatted with bassist Erik Bodin while he was in his hometown of Gothenberg, Sweden. Talking about their choice to refuse collaborations Erik revealed that they were hesitant to work with people they didn't know as it wouldn't be an honest experience, and how a documentary on a man who ran a company that allowed fake relatives to be hired for events inspired their song Underbart. Little Dragon will be returning to Australia for a full sweep of the country as part of Laneway 2015, tickets and the full lineup can be found HERE.  Hey Erik, how are you? I'm good, how are you? I'

Video: Laura Marling - Short Movie
Laura Marling's single Short Movie is an enchanting slow-burner.. For those who've missed on singer-songwriter Laura Marling's overwhelming talent it's best to describe her as having the bluntness of Courtney Barnett merged with the instrumental beauty of Ben Howard. Short Movie is the title track from Laura Marling's fifth album and she has dropped a music video alongside it. The clip is simplistic in nature, making use of mostly of white and varying hues of blue in a haphazard way as if they were drawn on. Much like many of the best singer-songerwriter tracks it has humble beginnings that slowly burgeon with the expanding array of instruments before blooming with a georgeous strings section. And worth noting is the charming call and receive Marling does with her voice by varying its pitch at the beginning.  Follow Laura Marling: FACEBOOK

Video: Client Liaison - Groove The Physical
It's not the 80s' if there isn't any leopard print.. The clip for Groove The Physical is basically just one of those music videos where the club is on-point, the people are on-point and you're sitting at home eating ice cream because the latest episode of *insert popular tv show* has come out. And after their glorious video for Feed The Rhythm it's not surprising Client Liaison once again smash a rad video clip. So while you're definitely slobbing it out on a couch somewhere Client Liaison are doing their latest '80s styled video with turtle necks and leopard print to boot. There's also a Japanese neon styled zest with pink neon Japanese subtitles appearing throughout. And shot at Melbourne club Hugs & Kisses it just adds to the aura of cool.  Follow Client Liaison: FACEBOOK
