New Music: Father John Misty – I Love You, Honeybear (Album Stream)
Father John Misty lays his heart bare but then throws acid over it in I Love You, Honeybear.. "Mobile lifestyle, lovely sex, independence, happiness oh and no one ever really knows the real you," sings Father John Misty in Holy Shit, as he seemingly extols and mopes about the desires and perceptions of being middle-class. Yes we want to be able to go to Paris and take the same goddamn photo of the Eiffel Tower, yeah sure we all want a good fuck but we wouldn’t be too close with that clingy individual. Oh wait, I feel alone in this world. It’s so middle-class it’s barely funny. You can almost hear Father John Misty chuckling as he wrote down the lyrics. But because of how he plays guitar he obtains this carefree status that puts him above such speculation. Instead he’s vulnerable young man, something only heightened by his beard and the fact that he was part of Fleet Foxes. And within I Love You, Honeybear there is a timeless beauty; it’s a traditional singer-songwriter album with the w

New Music: Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Multi-Love
Unknown Mortal Orchestra drop the lo-fi vibes in favor of some old schools synths on their new single, Multi-Love.. Multi-Love is the title track of Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s album that will be released May 26 via Jagjaguwar. The first thing that strikes you about Multi-Love is how different it sounds to previous releases. But the first listen doesn’t give any hints as to why, it just sounds unique within the pop landscape. But if you give yourself the time to delve into the song the thick slabs of synth and towering vocals capture you. It’s as if you’re driving into the most beautiful city that you could imagine; you can see that in the distance there is something glimmering but for now you’re only catching glimpses of its full glory. But as you reach the city centre the track’s majesty is revealed when Multi-Love hits the final chorus. Follow Unknown Mortal Orchestra: FACEBOOK / TWITTER

New Music: Purity Ring - Repetition
Purity Ring nail it again with Repetition.. Purity Ring have been wooing fans with their steady release of singles like Push Pull and Begin Again, and now with the airy Repetition. It doesn’t carry the soaring anthem of Push Pull nor the bewitching mood of Begin Again, however much like the previous two singles Repetition has its own identity with Megan James’ golden vocals untouched against a shimmering sound-bed of sharp percussion. And with the release of this third single, the release of Another Eternity on March 2 could not come sooner. UPDATE - Youtube is broken, here's the BBC Embed, skip ahead to 8:20 to listen (thanks Tim Kroh): Follow Purity Ring: FACEBOOK / TUMBLR

Video: Flight Facilities x Vic Mensa - Down On My Luck/Down To Earth At Laneway
Something else to (hopefully) look forward to at the remaining Laneway dates.. Vic Mensa is hot product right now - his latest collaboration with Kaytranada is proof of that alone, and when he teamed up with Flight Facilities over the weekend at St Jerome's Laneway in Sydney he confirmed what we already hoped. This match-up saw Flight Facilities shape Vic Mensa’s single Down On My Luck into a real party-starter. And talking to Hugo Gruzman, one half of Flight Facilities, at Future Classic’s after party, Gruzman explained that they had never met Vic before Laneway Brisbane but they just clicked. And while Flight Facilities were in their dressing room with Vic they came up with a re-work of Down On My Luck. About an hour later the trio drop it for the first time and people went absolutely ballistic. A match made in heaven, huh? And it gets better because in Sydney they didn’t think they would be able to play it with Vic also having to perform his own set. Well until he shows up side of s

New Music: Kagu - Human
Kagu’s second single is an exciting step-up from Shadow Of The Wind.. Where Shadow Of The Wind was a cut of dreamy of electronica with an apt music video to boot Sean Heathcliffe’s second single Human is a huge step-up in energy and direction. Indeed, to balance calming moods in an EP with hungry drum lines and reverb-laced vocals is a tricky one but it also means that Heathcliffe won’t be boxed into one niche. That isn’t to say that Human is a roaring garbage rock crusher of tune but it has a restless energy that makes you want more. Providing a perfect compliment to Shadow Of The Wind; the track that satiates this hunger. Follow Kagu: FACEBOOK | SOUNDCLOUD | TWITTER
