Fresh Finds: Class Of 2025 – Aussie Acts To Add To Your Playlist

Liz Giuffre, Journalist

Liz Giuffre

Liz Giuffre is a Sydney-based music and arts writer who's been listening, writing and dancing badly along to music since the late’ 90s. Although she clearly started her career as the Doogie Howser of Australian music journalism (a reference that will give away her age if nothing else), her passion has only sharpened over the years, even if her upper-level hearing range has softened. Just another excuse to get in early for the best position down the front.

A proud member of The Music extended family, Liz also has a 'grown up job' as an academic teaching and writing about popular music and culture at UTS in Sydney, and she also moonlights as a podcaster and archivist for community radio. Someone towards the higher end of the Australian music industry once called her a "Doctor of Pop", but you can just call her Liz. There's also a couple of little music fans who call her 'Mum'. She’s only met Molly Meldrum in the flesh once, and she didn't 'just go in for the hug'. Regret is a powerful emotion.

Live Review: Neil Finn
Expecting him to stay superglued to the early ‘80s and ‘90s would do him and his work a disservice, though, and now the crackle adds a different type of character.

Live Review: Café Of The Gate Of Salvation
Great sounds for believers of good music, not matter what their denomination.

Album Review: The Audreys - 'Till My Tears Roll Away
Building around the simple title and adding a few more voices, instruments and ornaments for each refrain, it’ll likely be lots of fun live too.

Live Review: FourPlay String Quartet
FourPlay weren’t ‘back’ tonight – they just showed they’ve never really been away.

Live Review: Dolly Parton
In terms of not just owning a genre, but defining it, she is absolutely the business.

Album Review: Various - Morning Of The Earth Complete Original Soundtrack And Reimagined
"It seems Sand Pebbles couldn’t resist getting just a bit of original ‘70s in with Dream Chant. Also well worth it is Machine Translations’ Simple Ben; just sweet and easy in its approach."

Live Review: Bonobo
The set covered a good range of material, and recent additions from his last feature The North Borders really shone.

Live Review: The Roots, Urthboy
"There wasn’t so much a set list as set stream, with songs merging and emerging in between epic solos and samples."
