"They were once known for their sonic narcissism but now Witchcraft should simply be hailed for writing great songs."

On Nucleus, Witchcraft's first LP in four years, main man Magnus Pelander continues in the more modern vein of 2012's Legend.

Although no longer trying to recreate that crackling '70s vinyl vibe, the band remain true to their roots with a collection of doom-laden psychedelic rock in the best traditions of Pentagram, Sabbath and Sir Lord Baltimore. Of note are a number of epic compositions including the title track, Maelstrom and the sprawling Breakdown. All showcase the best this band has to offer: distinctive riffs, Pelander's soulful vocals and a wickedly loose groove. They were once known for their sonic narcissism but now Witchcraft should simply be hailed for writing great songs
