It’s a wonderful day for fans of the legendary Los Angeles ska-punk band, Fishbone, as they’ve just announced their first Australian tour in 15 years.

Upon their return to Australia in September, Fishbone will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album, In Your Face, performing the record in its entirety as well as a string of fan favourites.

The tour begins at Adelaide’s The Gov on Monday, 21 September. It continues at Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Wednesday, 23 September, Sydney’s Liberty Hall on Thursday, 24 September, and concludes at Brisbane’s The Triffid on Friday, 25 September.

Fans can purchase pre-sale tickets on Monday, 3 August, at 10 am local time, followed by the general sale on Wednesday, 5 August, at 10 am local time. You can find more ticketing information on the Destroy All Lines website.

The band said of their long-awaited return to Australia, “Ok.. this is exciting to announce. You can’t go to Japan and not go to Australia… It’s been 15 years since we were Down Under… this time we are coming correct.. continuing the Escape America tour and extending the 40 Year Anniversary Album Play tour…. We are thankful to Destroy All Lines for bringing us.”

One of music’s genre disruptors, the band are known for blending punk with ska, funk, and soul, with their innovative sound accompanying socially conscious lyrics. Their Australian tour follows the release of Stockholm Syndrome, Fishbone’s latest album – released last June and marking their first album in more than 20 years.

Stockholm Syndrome picks up the band where they left off in 1995. Meanwhile, In Your Face – which they’ll revisit in September – remains the cornerstone of Fishbone’s legacy.

They celebrated the iconic record with a 40th anniversary reissue earlier this year, as well as a tribute album, Cover Your Face. Artists who paid tribute to the band included Patrick Stump, Wheatus, Silversun Pickups, and more.

Recent tours and festival appearances have seen Fishbone share the stage with Madness, Tool, and Primus, with tour stops including Less Than Jake’s Summer Circus Tour and the Long Beach and Washington, D.C. editions of Vans Warped Tour last year.
