Next month, a documentary feature film about one of the most famous singers to come out of Australia, Tina Arena, lands in cinemas. Today, Maslow Entertainment has unveiled the trailer.

The world premiere for Tina Arena: Unravel Me takes place at the Astor Theatre as part of this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival in just two weeks – Wednesday, 12 August, where Tina herself will be in attendance.

Following the premiere, the documentary will receive a nationwide cinema release, kicking off on Thursday, 27 August.

The trailer flashes from Tina Arena, an eight-year-old girl on Young Talent Time, to career highlights, like being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, to the singer looking back on her career and expressing herself, in what promises to be “an emotional and raw” documentary.

Additionally, fans can find Arena’s peers, such as Ronan Keating and Jessica Mauboy, singing her praises. You can secure tickets to the documentary premiere screening here and check out the trailer below.

Tina Arena: Unravel Me arrives in celebration of the entertainer’s five decades in the spotlight. Described as an “intimate and cinematic” portrait of an enduring artist, the documentary follows “two interwoven lenses – Tina the icon and Tina the woman” while peeling back fame and sharing new revelations for the first time.

Like all the best music documentaries, Tina Arena’s will contain archival footage and new interviews with family, her mentor Johnny Young, and artists including Keating, Mauboy, Marc Antony, Celine Dion, and more.

The Helium Pictures production is directed by Adrian Russell Wills, written and produced by Jessica Carrera and Executive Produced by Mark Fennessy and Tina Arena. The project received principal production funding from Screen Australia and was financed in association with Screen NSW, Seven Network and The Post Lounge.

Tina Arena’s most recent album, Love Saves, was released in July 2023. Her thirteenth album, it was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Adult Contemporary Album, debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and features the hit single, Church.

Arena said of the celebrations marking 50 years in the entertainment business, “It’s hard to believe it’s been fifty years since I first stepped into the spotlight at just eight years old as a contestant on Young Talent Time.

“This next artistic chapter is about freedom, creativity and sharing my truth and experiences on my own terms, and I want my beautiful, loyal fans to celebrate with me.”
