After years of success on the Australian circuit and a recent launch into the international comedy scene with their Edinburgh sell-out season, Fringe favourites Ben and James Stevenson are back in Perth for a string of shows that will leave you in stitches.
Pulling no punches, the identical twin ensemble delivered a show bursting with scathing sibling rivalry to bring out their comedic and brutal best. While the telepathic connection between the two (of which the majority of the show stands on) was lacking during certain points of the night, the songs were catchy enough and the stories playful so as to overlook these few fumbles. A highlight of the night was the top-tier crowd work which cleverly brought crowd members in on the joke rather than making them the butt of it, as many comedians tend to.
Blending dinkum observational humour with a twist of literary and artistic edge in their songs and satire raps, the duo were able to cater to all facets of the audience, both young and old. While the hour-long show heavily relied on the competitive banter between the brothers, the performance seemed to spike in the moments where the audience could associate, with laughter filling the boutique venue during moments of crude commentary on the Wanderlusters of Instagram and Perth's brunch culture.
