"They tease us with a new song inspired by a kooky-eyed girlfriend, which highlights their lovable qualities with repetitive rhythms and fun lyrics to chant along with"

More The Jungle Giants More The Jungle Giants

Foreign/National swap with Moses Gunn Collective to kick off the support act line-up tonight. The five-piece say they don’t see quite as many audience members “popping off” compared to last night’s show, but this sizeable crowd at their feet give them confidence to go even harder. Their retro-rock has a charmingly nostalgic, low-fi garage sound with moody tones that take us through the motions.

Doused in glitter and sequins from head to toe, Moses Gunn Collective sparkle like stars from outer space. An eerie, instrumental teasing of The Pink Panther Theme slowly leads them in before they break out into an erratic jam of heavy guitar riffs with plenty of reverb. Their psychedelic, glam-rock feel puts us in a dreamlike state and holds us there with some killer guitar hooks. They lose themselves deep within their kaleidoscopic energy during latest single Back Into The Womb as they transcend with an array of experimental tones and wispy falsettos. Shalala oozes super-chilled vibes and has a more accessible pop sound.

Creating instantaneous feel-good vibrations, The Jungle Giants give us an uncontrollable urge to dance from the very first guitar riff. Their exhilarating choruses and contagious melodies on old favourites Mr Polite and She’s A Riot have us buzzing in no time. Some punters can even be seen up on their mates’ shoulders and attempting to crowd-surf just two songs into the set! Lewis Stephenson from Moses Gunn Collective soon joins them to play some auxiliary percussion and keyboards, which helps bring some of the band’s new music to life. They tease us with a new song inspired by a kooky-eyed girlfriend, which highlights their lovable qualities with repetitive rhythms and fun lyrics to chant along with. Another yet-to-be-released track poses the question “What do you think?” with grunge undertones, fuelled by crashing guitars and psychedelic synth. We definitely dig this fresh sound.

I Am What You Want Me To Be takes the energy to the next level with their powerhouse indie-pop anthem that’s a dominant crowd pleaser. We then get mental for the last song and latest release, Every Kind Of Way. The track features spoken word verses to a steady beat and explores a slightly different direction that’s outside their comfort zone. This taste of new material leaves us with even more excitement for The Jungle Giants’ much-anticipated second album.
