A sold out show meant hordes of people were making their way into Amps from the get-go, and the duo that was Angus Dawson got the party started in fine fashion, warming up the building audience with a catchy mix of beats and vocal work. Dawson’s smooth voice and captivating melodies got people moving early and was befitting for what would be a huge evening. Next up was Just A Gent, who laid claim to his name by gracing the stage in a sharp-looking suit and top hat. It was really all for show though, as he worked the crowd into a sweaty heap with instantly recognisable mixes from decades gone by. His range of song choices should be applauded – one minute you were hearing a Tears For Fears mash-up, and the next would be something from American Authors. It was smart move that kept the anticipation high and the crowd on their toes as there was still plenty more to come.

Sable showed us once again why he continues to build hype at an explosive pace with an exhilarating set. His sweet, sugary blend of beats and synth work had the energy levels through the roof the entire time, and new song Mt Moon cemented the idea that his style and the direction he’s heading in works. While the crowd continued to work themselves up as the set went on, they threw themselves into full gear when he played the now massively recognised hit Feels So Good, and by the end of the set it was amazing to think everyone still had energy in the tank for the main event.

The Aston Shuffle boys made their way onto the stage looking like they were on a mission to get the place moving, and did so immediately with No Place Like Home. The set felt as a DJ’s should – the lighting was incredible, and the guest stars were amazing in playing their part of featuring throughout particular songs. Their new record Photographs is due for release soon, and the highlight for the evening came when a performer adorned in a disco ball suit took to the stage and danced to new track Tear It Down, which had the whole room absolutely heaving. If that new track and performance is anything to go by, the boys are certainly heading in the right direction and they will continue to uphold their reputation as one of the country’s most exciting dance acts.
