Pretty good stuff.

Calling Daniel McBride aka Sheep, Dog & Wolf “quirky” is probably an understatement, but what do expect from a Wellington kid?

Egospect is full of warm, dense bedroom indie, with plenty of odes to Iron & Wine and Bon Iver, but enough experimental textures to set it apart. Tracks like Not Aquatic and Ablutophobia practically burst at the seams with odd horn sections and jazz explorations, obviously a product of the one-man project. What’s probably most surprising though is that a lot of this music was written when McBride was 17, expressing a maturity and understanding of songwriting really beyond his years. Pretty good stuff.
