It would make an excellent album to throw on for a bit of background ghetto ambiance, though not enough to take the party to the next level.

More Obie Trice More Obie Trice

OB fans will be relieved by the long awaited release of the rapper's latest album Bottoms Up. The album is a follow-up to his last release in 2006 called Second Round's On Me. This is the first album Trice has released on his new label Black Market Entertainment. The album has quite a different vibe from the last one which was released on Shady Records, however you can rest assured it still features those old school Shady beats and excellent production quality.

As a follow-up album to the last, Bottoms Up doesn't quite meet the same level of rad that you might expect. The beats are more chilled and a little too consistent throughout the album (to the point of monotony). Having said that, there are some winning songs to keep an ear out for. The beats for the intro was produced by Dre and gets things off to a super fine start. Richard is by far the stand-out track of the album and features Eminem. Both rappers work really well together and lay down some witty verse over a really catchy beat. Dear Lord, BME Up, Secrets and Spill My Drink are all solid tracks and there's pretty much something for every homie on the album.

As a whole, the album works really well, offering a fair degree of beat quality and skill of lyricism. It would make an excellent album to throw on for a bit of background ghetto ambiance, though not enough to take the party to the next level. Seven clocks of the glock out of ten.
