"It's safe to say that all the acts on this bill were worth the hype."

More Nina Las Vegas More Nina Las Vegas

On the final night of the NLV Presents tour, Nina Las Vegas stepped into the grimy hallways of Zhivago for a Sunday session that was like no other. The event boasted a heavy line-up of the world's best bassline makers: DJ Monki, DJEMBA DJEMBA and MSSINGNO. The night started off with a local flavour, however, the Zhivago resident DJ playing a few chilled-out tunes before many way-too-keen punters wandered into the cold, dark depths of the club.

It's safe to say that all the acts on this bill were worth the hype. Nina Las Vegas did a damn good job of mixing things up with her opening set. Her club shows tend to be much more hardcore than her MixUp Exclusive radio show but proved yet again that the musical tastemaker has her finger on the pulse. Nina Las Vegas seamlessly mixed in track after track and while there was no playlist to look up the cool things she had played, there was plenty of moving and shaking going on instead.

Come 11.30pm, plenty of weird sounds were permeating from the little DJ booth. Djemba Djemba was behind the decks supplying the soundtrack for what was building up to be a hectic night. Featuring the occasional trap snare there were plenty of clicks and loops, enough to keep listeners hooked until the changeover. Key moments were when Djemba managed to play a few tracks of his own and these were a nice break from the constant stream of "bangers". There was an MC on hand to introduce each of the international guests.

The LA producer then handed over the reins to BBC Radio One's Monki. Fresh from releasing her own EP, Monki's DJ set was full of groovy head-bopping and fist-pumping thumpers. Those familiar with the DJ's work would have noticed that some of her SoundCloud favourites made it into her dynamic set.

The highlight of the night was MssingNo, who absolutely slayed the night. The UK producer played a cheeky cut by Drake that was met with wild applause. I had my doubts about Zhivago as a venue for club raves but this night was actually alright. It was particularly interesting when there was an MC on hand to introduce the acts, especially for those who had lost their phone in the act of dancing all too much.
