It was left to Black & Blunt and Death Disco DJs to drive the night home, keeping the crowd moving and shaking long into the early hours of Sunday morning.

A host of some of Perth's finest electronic music producers and DJs were down at a special Greens Party Death Disco at Capitol on Saturday night, with all proceeds going towards Greens Senator Scott Ludlam's campaign for re-election in the upcoming WA Federal Senate by-election.

While the Death Disco DJs got a dancefloor going with a heavy mix of hip hop, including Missy Elliot, Bauuer and RL Grime, punters were mostly around the Greens merchandise stand set up near the rear of the room where they could make a donation by buying one of many Ludlam-inspired T-shirts.

After the Death Disco boys started getting people amped up and ready to party were four-piece electronic act Lilt, playing songs from their debut EP, Swim, plus their newer material, which mixed in elements of UK garage and drum'n'bass in the mix. While appearing a little nervous at first, songtress Louise Penman was in fine form, captivating the crowd with her pure, biting vocals and powerful, intimate melodies.

After that the scene was set for Senator Scott Ludlam, aka DJ S.LUDZ, to make his live DJ debut to the large crowd that had assembled to see if the Greens senator could spin a few good tracks. Though he had only received a 30-minute practice session before the show, he managed to pump out a solid set of dancefloor material including Nine Inch Nails, Cut Copy and The Presets.

While many of the audience dispersed after the set, Sam Perry kept the remaining crowd entertained with his amazing beat-boxing and vocal looping skills before the night took a heavier turn with electronic duo Command Q.
