"Soft and somewhat magical, the sounds created by the trio were easy on the ears."
On a typically wet and wintery Saturday night in Hobart, the back room of The Warratah was anything but cold. Kicking the night off was local band Empire Park, bringing the groove with a mix of covers and originals. The Hobart boys were obviously stoked to be supporting a band such as Little May and really brought their A-game. They did an exceptional job of setting the scene before indie-folk trio Little May took the stage.
The crowd was amped and ready for the band and the girls were greeted with a warm Tasmanian welcome. The trio encouraged the crowd to come in nice and close to the stage for a more intimate feel, and we obliged. Soon there was little room to move on the dancefloor as more and more people got into the feel of the music and started to dance like no one else was in the room. Starting things off with Cicadas, the Sydney band blessed us with their soulful harmonies. Featuring other crowd-pleasers such as Bow & Arrow, Home and Seven Hours, the setlist left none disappointed. Soft and somewhat magical, the sounds created by the trio were easy on the ears and the warm and cosy feel inside the room meant that, for a short while, it was easy to forget about the hurricane going on outside.
The Warratah was filled with a diverse group of fans, both old and new, and for the newer fans in the room it was a real treat. Adding a personal touch and throwing some easy conversation into the mix, the girls showed how at home they are on stage and how much they enjoy playing their music to such a variety of people. A beautiful night was had by all in sleepy little Hobart town.
