Getting her DJ start with FBi Radio's Dance Class back in 2016, Madi Carr AKA SPORTS began playing clubs around Sydney, becoming fast known for her raucous energy behind the decks and a penchant for excellent selection.
As the years have gone by, she's quietly done heaps for the Sydney scene - working hard behind the scenes booking some of your favourite acts at Sosueme, hosting her show Stamina on FBi Click (with guest mixes from the likes of DJ Boring, Human Movement, Val York & more), bringing Aussie women and gender-non conforming folk in music together through various online communities and more recently, putting together a six-part mix series via our gal Eddy Diamond's platform Sittin' Pretty (check those out here).
She's since played at huge festivals around the country, warehouse parties in all corners too and dropped a special set at our twelfth birthday bash earlier in the year.
I could use this entire piece to gush about her and all that she's done for non-men and music here in Sydney, but the piece would honestly go on forever, so let's chat about the future.

Another thing she's quietly been doing is producing. Trying her hand at locking down some tunes, she's been working at it for the better part of the last few months, and we're so damn stoked to say that today, we're premiering SPORTS' debut track, 'Professor Bitch'.
This is the third single to feature on Of Leisure's Blue Line Steppers compilation which is set to feature twelve tracks from hand-picked local acts in what is to be a truly unique vinyl and digital comp. It's acting as a glimpse into the huge melting pot of established and emerging underground talent going around Sydney's electronic scene. It's highlighting the positive outcomes from what has been a pretty dismal few years here in the Sydney electronic scene due to harsh restrictions and the introduction of the lockout laws back in 2014.
In true SPORTS style, 'Professor Bitch' is dedicated to "all of the ladies getting it done, and the men who back them".
It's a fusion of so many great dancefloor moments - there's that crunchy, acid bassline driven forward by an expertly programmed lo-fi drum pattern, dotted with big breakbeat moments. The track is absolutely dripping with that feeling you only really get when you listen to techno - you know the one. You strap yourself in at the start of the track, ready to be taken on a journey and throughout its entirety, you can feel it through your whole body.
She's sampled one hell of an interview with Princess Nokia throughout this one, highlighting the importance of "ladies getting it done". The sampling's been done in such a way that you really need to listen to the track in its entirety to get the full effect of the sample. It's a story, and SPORTS has intended for you to hear it this way.
Do yourself a favour and bump this track at your next party. Your friends will thank you.
The full Blue Line Steppers compilation from Of Leisure will be out on November 16. Pre-order your copy here before they're all gone.
