Heartbreak High just returned to Netflix (25 March) for a third and final season. While it’s devastating to say farewell to the students and staff of Hartley High, at least the tunes are great.

Like its predecessors, the soundtrack for the third season of Heartbreak High is packed with homegrown and international music, blending nostalgic Australian classics with modern-day chart-toppers—plus a musical appearance from lead cast member Ayesha Madon.

This season also welcomes Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer Genesis Owusu, who makes a cameo on episode four and stars on the soundtrack.

He’s not the only one making waves on Heartbreak High’s third season. Across eight episodes, an abundance of music accompanies the characters as they present stories of high school romances and teen angst.

Episode one proves that it’s HOT TO GO with hits by Chappell Roan, INXS (Never Tear Us Apart), Smashing Pumpkins (1979), alt-J (In Cold Blood), and more, and the tunes continue throughout the season.

Episode two features appearances by Jungle (Good Times) and Silverchair (Israel’s Son), while episode three is home to Peter Andre (Mysterious Girl), t.A.T.u. (All the Things She Said), BARKAA (Fruition feat. Minty), Djanaba (Way We Move), and Chanel Loren (Ring Ring).

Joining Genesis Owusu on episode four are Amyl and the Sniffers (U Should Not Be Doing That), Ecca Vandal (BLEED BUT NEVER DIE), Logic1000 (Heartbeat feat. Vv Pete), and Wolf Alice with their take on Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game. Episode five continues the excitement with Timbaland & OneRepublic (Apologize), Darude (Sandstorm), and total tommy (Losing Out).

The last three episodes contain tracks by Jamiroquai, Kim Petras, FKA twigs, Ninajirachi & Izzy Camina, DEVAURA, Armlock, The Cramps, Hooligan Hefs, Delivery, Lotte Gallagher, Charli xcx, Australian Crawl, Kylie Minogue, Right Said Fred, Memphis LK, Dua Lipa, Dom Dolla, Mallrat, The Temper Trap, and many others.

You can check out an episode-by-episode breakdown of the Heartbreak High season three soundtrack and listen to Spotify’s playlist below.

“Music has always been central to the storytelling in Heartbreak High, and for the final season, the creative team went all in with their commitment to homegrown sounds while honouring the show’s global reach,” said the series’ Music Supervisors, Jemma Burns and Charlie Lempiere.

They continued, “From INXS and Kylie Minogue to Amyl and the Sniffers, every episode is stacked with local legends, rising names and sitting alongside international acts to capture the energy and nostalgia of Hartley High.”
