Live Review: Lyves reappears to release new single 'Darkest Hour'

After a year away, with only occasional posts on social media to vouch that she had not mysteriously disappeared, LYVES announced on December 19th of last year that she had finally finished writing her debut EP.  It is March now and finally 'Darkest Hour,' the first single from her, as of yet unannounced, EP has been released.

A soulful ballad, 'Darkest Hour' has Lyves singing "take me where you want me lover" and offering her faceless lover the advice to "tread carefully." It's the kind of love song that is relatable in an almost tragic way as it synomously describes the feeling that you would do anything for the one you love whilst Lyves whispers "have you ever seen her look like that?" It is at once a song about the devotion that comes with romantic love and betrayal.

Lyves has spent the last five months in seclusion, hidden away in her family's hometown in Italy to, in her own words, "focus on writing and giving it everything I've got." 'Darkest Hour' is a result of that intensive, focused writing and with its release Lyves has given the promise to "share much more music with you."

Although Lyves remains quiet as ever about her movements in the coming weeks, we're hoping that the release of the EP from which 'Darkest Hour' hails will be among them.
