Rave Of Thrones hits Perth and Kristian Nairn is all business.

More Kristian Nairn (Hodor) More Kristian Nairn (Hodor)

Saturday night Villa Nightclub was transformed into one of the finest halls of Westeros for a heavy house DJ set from Hodor, or Kristian Nairn as he’s known in real life.

Fans came dressed as their favourite characters from the show, from a pint-sized Tyrion to a Daenarys and a handful of Jon Snows, and even a Bran, although that was just a guy wearing a box of Bran cereal attached to his shirt. Oh well, people made some effort and that’s what counts.

The aptly named Rad Wedding DJs got the night started, playing a tight mix of tunes that had people dancing early. The venue was littered with Game Of Thrones props, including an Iron Throne on the stage behind the DJs.

Animal House DJs came on next, getting the growing crowd energised with a killer set of songs including tracks from Amtrac, Schoolboy Q, Big Sean and Jolen.

Towards the end of their set, Nairn came out to sit on the throne and preside over the crowd. The audience cheered for the arrival of their tall, fearless leader as the DJs started blasting out the obligatory Game Of Thrones theme remix to end their set.

Ego delivered a special GOT-inspired audiovisual set, starting with him mixing in dialogue from the show over the thunderous sounds of Kanye West’s New Slaves. As the hour drew to an end, everyone started chanting “Hodor, Hodor, Hodor, Hodor...” while the DJ blasted out the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Heads Will Roll.

Looking far removed from his character, the towering figure of Kristian Nairn arrived on stage, casually dressed in jeans and a shirt with a set of Beats By Dre headphones. “Alright, let’s kick this shit off, Hodor!” he announced, resulting in a massive cheer from the crowd.

His set was comprised of heavy-hitters, starting with Eric Prydz’ Every Day, followed by some Don Diablo and Calippo. During Ruffneck’s Everybody Be Somebody, people began to chant “Hodor, Hodor, Hodor...” all over again. Nairn was all business though, remaining focused and fixed to the decks as he continued to draw on a heavy bag of house tracks that got the room dancing away.

His set complete, Pilerats DJs and Genga finished the night off, keeping the assortment of GOT characters partying away late into the night.
