Album Review: Jackie Onassis - Pristine Alley

"When we look back on what summer 2015/16 sounded like, we may say it was this album."

This is finger-on-the-pulse, zeitgeist-riding stuff; a thrill for those of us brought up on crate-digging, sample-driven boom bap.

Live Good is proper stadium-filling, T-shirt selling, big-time commercial rap. And it's fun! Stay In is a PG-rated sex jam; both ambitious and well executed. Halloween is a deceptively upbeat morality tale. Bottom Of The 9th recalls Nicki Minaj's Pills N Potions with its piano plinks and gentle introspection. Thaaas Riiigh, a swoon with an air of genuine menace, is the record's acme. Pristine Alley is a moment in time. When we look back on what summer 2015/16 sounded like, we may say it was this album.
