Album Review: Above & Beyond - We Are All We Need

StarStarStarStar

"Well crafted but with a large amount of space for their guests to shine at their natural best."

More Above & Beyond Above & Beyond Profile

If there were nothing but the title track on Above & Beyond’s follow-up to 2011’s Group Therapy they would be forgiven; it deftly mixes gentle house beats under Zoe Johnston’s sublime pouty lilt.

It’s a clear standout but after that things get more electrified; Alex Vargas brings a sassier vocal to banger Blue Sky Action, and Justine Suissa croons over a melancholy piano in power ballad Little Something. It’s refreshing to hear something from the DJ supergroup – comprising Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki – so well crafted but with a large amount of space for their guests to shine at their natural best.
