Who knew those guys were good at partying?. Lsat weekend the south west of WA was treated to one of the loosest weekends it has been involved in for some time (we assume). Not only did Dune Rats take all and sundry down on a three-date tour thanks to HOOCH (photographic evidence HERE), but arguably two of Australia's biggest names in dance music - Peking Duk - came over for one special night. A night that appears to involve lots of vodka, fondue, girls in their underwear, and a lot more vodka. You might say this was a "Perfect Match" - to keep the nostalgic theme going.. I'll be honest - I wasn't a huge fan of Kimbra's '90s Music when she released it. I appreciate it's something a little different for one of Australia's brightest artists, but I just couldn't get into it. A lot of people do though, which is great, 'cause Kimbra is cool, and her other new tracks are awesome. A couple of dudes who do like '90s Music are Melbourne duo Client Liaison, and they like it so much they decided to add their own spin on the tune as part of the official '90s Music EP. It's a match made in heaven - Client Liaison's nostalgic pastiche takes the track from its original off-kilter vibes to a grinding little disco number, and it sounds like they had a lot of fun: "There was a calculated effort to sidestep the traditional notions of what constitutes a remix. Celebrating 20 years of the Perth radio stalwart's ambient/electronic/experimental program.. Ambient Zone is RTRFM's local ambient, experimental and electronic music program, and this Sunday sees the show celebrating two decades (!) of existance with a night featuring some of Perth's finest beatbrains, taking over The Bird. I OH YOU welcomes a mysterious (and beautiful-sounding) new member to the team.. Your mates and our's, I OH YOU have announced the newest member of their record label family today in the form of young artist, Montgomery. For a label normally associated with rock and fucking roll (Violent Soho, DZ Deathrays, DMA's etc.), Montgomery seems - so far - as a bit of a departure for the team, and one we're digging. They'll be releasing her debut EP, New Clear War on Friday 24 October, and have dropped the first taste of it with War Cry. We can't wait to find out more about Montgomery, but until then we're happy to have this on high office rotation, 'cause it's a beautiful slice of understated, melancholic electronica. The Melbourne trio release their second single ahead of a debut EP.. Leisure Suite immediately put themselves under my 'ones to watch' list when they dropped their first single, Great Expectations, back in May this year (listen HERE), and so I'm super happy to be sharing their second single today, Ease Away. It's another track from the upcoming release of their debut EP, and continues explorations in sultry, downbeat electronica, pinned down by vocalist Bridgette Le's soothingly seductive crooning. Dune Rats had a bloody good time last weekend.. There's something about Dune Rats and the south west of Western Australia that goes together like milk and honey. When dudes who don't mind getting loose play shows in front of crowds that have "loose" in their DNA, good times will no doubt abound. Maybe security will get involved. Maybe even the police will. Who knows. They're currently touring new single Superman, with the shows rolling on in Brisbane this weekend.
