An act we're very excited about has given us their debut EP a day early.. A few weeks ago we posted about Leisure Suite's new single Ease Away, the second track off their debut EP release, and as far as we were concerned it was two for two from the emerging Melbourne trio. Tomorrow sees the official release of that very EP, and we're very privileged to offer you the EP stream a day in advance. For such a young act, they already show a maturity and production nous beyond their years, bringing to mind a kind of mix of Foals, Alpine, The xx and Snakadaktal, exploring sultry, downbeat electronica, pinned down by vocalist Bridgette Le's soothingly seductive croon. The EP is a diverse four tracks, and firmly stamps Leisure Suite as one of this country's most exciting young electronic acts. Ja boi Paces drops his first tune on etcetc, featuring UK band Youth on vocal duties.. Summer is Gold Coast $wag king Paces time to shine - sun-lit bangers are his forte and he's on the verge of dropping his first EP with new record label home etcetc. On My Mind featuring UK outfit Youth (who you might remember from Kilter's Hold Me single earlier this year) is filled with all the trippy tropical vibes we've come to love from Paces, and the sultry vocals of Youth are the perfect compliment. Something about Paces' beats seem to mesh perfectly with female vocalists, and this is no acception. It's officially out October 24, with the EP dropping November 14. New Year's Eve in Sydney plans - sorted.. The good folks at Falcon are once again teaming up with the party-vibing folks at Cargo to give you a pretty clear winner for New Year's Eve Sydney party plans - NYE On The Harbour. Joining the dudes you see in the photo above, Hermitdue (read our recent feature with them HERE), will be some of Falcona's finest in Crooked Colours and Hayden James, along with Yolanda Be Cool (who've just dropped a new DCUP colab in SUGAR MAN) and a yet-be-announced secret DJ (check the Falcona roster, you might be able to connect the dots). Cut Copy are taking you deep into Melbourne's dance scene.. As we continue to lose Cut Copy to their ever-growing international audience (this is not meant in a bad way at all!) the legendary Aussie dance act are looking back home for a special release due November 11, called Oceans Apart. The 19-track, mixed CD offers a snapshot of their hometown scene with a heap of new and exclusive tunes from Melbourne's bubbling dance community. Mixed by Cut Copy themselves, it's a clear passion project for frontman Dan Whitford: "We’ve always found deep inspiration in the music of our home city. It’s where Cut Copy started, as just one band in a potent community of unique and likeminded artists. But it also continues to inspire and surprise us, with great new music constantly bubbling to the surface." That tune you've heard live at all their shows is finally out.. After taking all and sundry in 2014 with their chart-smashing/world-beating/festival-slaying/AIR Award-winning/venue-selling-out single High feat. Nicole Millar, Peking Duk have finally dropped a tune they've been teasing at heaps of shows with Safia vocalist Ben Woolner-Kirkham - Take Me Over. It's another formidable slow-electro-jam, featuring Woolner-Kirkham's soaring falsetto, a thumping beat and driving synths that will no doubt continue to get arms up and, if their recent sell-out tour is anything to go by, boobs out. The Paradise Awaits remixes keep coming, another beauty from Tassie producer Akouo.. After making his much-anticipated world debut at the recent Listen Out Festivals, Zhu's Australian love affair continues in the aftermath of the shows. Along with a RUFUS remix for Zhu single Paradise Awaits, Tasmanian producer on the rise Akouo offers up this killer slice of future-beat. His debut EP Mesa hit the top of the iTunes electronic charts, and this remix continues a run of stellar releases from Akouo. Triple J's latest Like A Version CD is out today (October 10), featuring 19 tracks along with 19 live videos of our national youth broadcaster's favourite selections over the course of the year. Those with a keen memory regarding things on the internet may recall an article we wrote like almost two years ago having a dig at bands' poor choices of songs to cover. And while we were young and precocious then (as opposed to old and haggard now), we like to pretend that some bands actually read the article, 'cause the lineup for LAV 10 is pretty killer. Some new music from some artists you may not know of yet..

Australian electronic music's new power couple bring some heat.. We're extolled enough plaudits upon Young Franco this year (start HERE and work your way back), and UV Boi is no slouch either, touring a killer single in Thank U (HERE) and teaming with Ryan Hemsworth and the most-rad Gods (HERE). Both dudes have a pretty unique production style, so it was always gonna be interesting to see what birthed from it, and the results are not disappointing. Anywhere feels like more a UV Boi joint just in tone, but also showcases what Young Franco can do when he's not laying down disco-house grooves. Really the whole release is clearly the melding of two bright young talents in the Australian electronic scene, and we're looking forward to more from these two lads working together.
