No Money Weekend
Attention all cheapskates and cheap dates.. An important part of being an adult is learning how to manage a budget. When you learn how to do that, please let us know because we still haven't figured it out. We prefer this method: lose track of how much money you're spending on everything, end up broke by Friday afternoon, and rely on the $10 in spare change you found on the floor of your car (more life advice: don't clean your car) to get you through the weekend. When you've been making do on a tenner every weekend you learn pretty quickly how to avoid doing expensive shit, so we're here to share our learnings with you. Think of us as that token, wise older sibling that's been around forever and always knows where to go to score... free stuff.  (Image: Chloe) JUST WHAT THE DOCTOPUS ORDERED If you like seeing bands that are energetic, talented but still not afraid to take the piss out of themselves, Doctopus are for you. For a fiver tonight you can get up close and sweaty with Doctopus’

New Music: Four Tet - Parallel Jalebi (Hudson Mohawke Remix)
Download Hudson Mohawke's awesome contribution to LuckyMe’s advent calendar.. The 2013 Four Tet album that this track comes off, Beautiful Rewind, is an all time favourite of mine. Packed with introspective, oddball, tech house-flavored beats, I like how Four Tet favours more experimentation on it a heap more than his other releases. Glasgow native / Kanye West collaborator Hudson Mohawke's taken one of the spacier tracks from that album, Parallel Jalebi, and injected some energy into it, and sharpened its abstract edges. The track's been released for a record label and artist collective from his hometown, Lucky Me, who each year put out a music advent calendar, releasing brand new rarities, alternate versions, and exclusives that span the sound of the LuckyMe family. One each day for free download for every day of December until Christmas - by the end it's a nice 25-track compilation. Video: Flamingo - Drip Away
The next best thing to actual barrels if you ask us.. During last week's Electronic Music Conference we had the pleasure of stumbling across Adelaide trio Flamingo's set during one of the EMC Play nights, and it was a cracker. Their tropical-feeling name is indicative of the music they put out - a very laidback and groovy type of beatsy electronica, and you can get a nice taste of it in the video below, for single Drip Away. The clip itself is the perfect accompaniment, and looks super fun - crafting mega barrels with only a tarpaulin, it is full of froth and summery stoke, only missing a couple of shakas to complete the whole affair: DRIP AWAY TOUR DATES Sat 13 Dec – The Causeway, Perth Fri 19 Dec – Cats @ Rocket Bar, Adelaide Tue 30 Dec – Lost Paradise Festival, Glenworth Valley Follow Flamingo: FACEBOOK

Pilerats 10 Days Of X-Mas #2
Flicks al fresco - Luna Outdoor is open for the summer. WIN a dbl pass!. We're feeling a bit, um, "Christmassy" so we've taken it upon ourselves to launch the inaugural Pilerats' 10 Days Of X-Mas - a different giveaway will be up for grabs each day leading up to December 25.Yes, we're aware it's supposed to be 12 Days of Christmas. But there's a limit to how much we can suck up to people for free stuff ;) Did you know Luna Leederville has an Outdoor Cinema right next to the main cinema? Well, now you know. Take advantage of this useful knowledge and head down there this summer – there’s bean bags (have tested, v. comfortable), tables and chairs (if you prefer to sit café style when you’re at the movies), and full access to the Luna Lounge Bar. Pick a flick, grab a pizza from Siena’s or Little Caesar’s up the road, sprinkle it with popcorn, hold tight to your plastic cup of house white while you negotiate a beanbag, and then just sit back and THRIVE. Here’s some assistance on the flick

Pilerats' 10 Days of X-Mas #1
Check Rooftop Movies' Summer Program Highlights and win one of 10 double passes.. But there's a limit to how much we can suck up to people for free stuff ;) Rooftop Movies Perth sits atop a multi-storey carpark in Northbridge - the top level of the carpark's been given a tropical makeover replete with a screen surging high into the city sky, plastic flamingos, palm treees, astro turf, stripy beach chairs and caravans selling beers, wine, and popcorn. It's one of our favourite places to head to in Perth over summer, given not only the A+ film programming, but the ever-rotating selection of post and pre-show DJs, bands and PIZZA (you can pre-order one with your online ticket purchase and have it waiting for you when you arrive, per

Video: The Preatures - Ordinary
The Preatures have just released a film clip for their track Ordinary, composed of their tour in America.. After knocking out a national tour of Australia The Preatures have just released a music video for Ordinary composed of shots from their time in America. Directed by Alex Ryan it tracks The Preatures' through an America still enamoured with rock'n'roll and where demin and leather jackets are the norm. It also brings out the otherside of touring, the endless travelling which has a sense of romanticism when you see the endless highways that America has. And through the lens of Ryan we're presented with a mostly sweaty, sometimes drunk and perpetually tired-looking band that rock out live. But you know they're Australian at heart when they bring out the vegemite. Follow The Preatures: FACEBOOK

Premiere: Goodbye Stranger - Cave
Up-and-coming UK outfit Goodbye Stranger are crafting some dreamy indie-dance.. Taking influence from the likes of New Order and Australia's own RUFUS, London-based four-piece Goodbye Stranger have sent us a track that seems far more appropriate for the sunny fields of Australian festivals and beaches than the cold, gloomy skies one might generally associate with the British isles. They're already clocking up some big venue and festival appearances in Europe with an indie-dance sound not unlike Australian contemporaries such as the above-mentioned RUFUS, Gold Fields and New Navy. So take in Cave below, and get around these guys as one gets the feeling we could be hearing a lot more from them in the future. Follow Goodbye Strangers: FACEBOOK // TWITTER

Police Presents
Does Michigan have the coolest police force in the world?. There’s not much that could dampen the excitement around the Christmas (/party) season than coming home from a night of festivities and experiencing the dread of seeing flashing lights in your rearview mirror, or buying a bunch of awesome presents for people and then coming out to see a parking ticket on your car. Nobody’s getting their day ruined in Michigan, however – the cops there are pulling people over and asking them if they need help with their Christmas shopping: they find out what gifts the people in their cars still had to buy on their Christmas shopping lists, then radio via their walkie-talkies to a team of shoppers waiting at a nearby department store, who quickly rounded up the items and brought them out to the cops, who are then handing them over to the drivers. The stunt was sponsored and the gifts were paid for by UP TV as a part of their #UpliftSomeone challenge, encouraging people “to do something small to m
