Yabun Festival – Australia’s largest one-day celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures – returns to Victoria Park on the land of the Gadigal people this January 26th, hosting an epic lineup of First Nations talent on its stages.
Yabun Festival is an annual event that was first founded in 2001 as a continuation of the first Survival Day events which were held throughout the 90s. As an 100% Aboriginal owned and operated event (courtesy of Gadigal Information Services), Yabun Festival boasts the richness and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, offering a day filled with family-friendly fun and celebrations of culture.

This year, organisers have curated a stellar lineup of First Nations artists to soundtrack the festivities. On the Yabun Mainstage you’ll find country music legend Troy Cassar-Daley, the Blak Matriarch herself Barkaa and award-winning electronic pop duo Electric Fields. Making this lineup even more major, artists JK-47, Miss Kaninna, No Fixed Address, Dameeeela, Dean Brady, Larry Gurruwiwi, Malawurr, Toni Janke and Jarrod Hickling will also be playing Yabun Festival, with comedian Steph Tisdell as the respected MC for the day.
Alongside performances, the day will feature market stalls, Speak Out panels, Jarjums tent filled with children’s activities and performances, and a Corroboree ground hosting the traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance.
Yabun Festival showcases the bountiful history and traditions of one of the oldest living cultures in the world, with organisers urging people from all over to come down and join in on the festivities.
“We invite people from all walks of life to join us at the Yabun Festival and immerse themselves in this unique event that honours the enduring legacy of the world’s oldest living cultures,” the festival organisers wrote on Instagram. “Be part of this celebration!”
